Stepping a must?
Is stepping really a must because most sororities make it seem that way

It's my uderstanding that not every NPHC fraternity or sorority chapter prticipates in step shows.

Also, not every member is necessarily on the step team.
The answer is no. Whether some chapters or members take it too far is an ongoing discussion.

You see how everyone on the Disney Channel can sing and dance. We all have to know how to step before initiation....it's a requirement

You can read our national websites (and most chapter websites) to figure out whether stepping is a must.

Thanks for the link, Pretty Boy. It was awesome. But I can't even imagine a sorority or fraternity requiring that members can do that!! ISn't that a talent? You'd never require anyone to be a singer or card shark or speak French.

If you do some research into our organizations, you'll find that not only is "stepping" NOT a requirement but it's not what we're about at all despite what popular movies like "Stomp the Yard" falsely portray. The NPHC orgs are about Sister/Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service. "Stepping" is great and fun to watch and participate in but it's just a leisurely tradition and yes it's a talent. Not every member or chapter steps or has a desire to.
