Having taken some Workshop courses (undergrad, didn't have to get accepted), I appreciate the comments about the writers, especially Kurt Vonnegut, one of the great nuts of the 20th century. He didn't mention John Irving, but he's another Writer's Workshop grad I really respect, although his work is too depressing for me.
