Proper attire for a Synagogue/Temple?

My grandmother is arranging to have some sort of memorial service for her grandmother (my great, great grandma). My dad just told me about this other night and he wasn't clear on the details. I just want to be sure that I'm dressed appropriately.

I'm assuming "Sunday church" clothes would be the way to go. Conservative but comfortable.

Would it make a difference if it's a Reform vs Conservative service?

No sleeveless dresses, no cleavage, knee length or longer.

If the temple has a website, pull up the pictures and see what the others are wearing. That will give you a good indication.

Reform, you can get away with just about everything. Conservative, you can get away with short sleeve and at-the knee dress. I agree about hiding the cleavage. I was also told a dressy pant suit is very acceptable.

My co-worker is Orthodox and she looks at it two ways.... you don't need to dress like us, but respect us. Basically she means, you don't need to wear the dickies that I do in 100 degree heat and you don't have to wear a wig or cover your head. But, don't show up in a Lilly Pulitzer dress and expect people to be happy about it.
