I shall ignore the fact that ASTalumna06 was the last poster in this thread and she's posting about DD instead of KK. How dare she.

I'll definitely be traveling to the nearest DD this Friday!

We don't even have a KK in Houston, so no need to worry about that on donut day. Although, I hear they're opening up 10 new stores soon (after they all closed about 7 years ago). We'll see how well they do. I know that a lot of Houstonians are loyal to their Shipley Donuts.

It looks as if there's only one KK in the Chicago area. Sheesh, what haven't I given up in moving here???

In the Austin/Round Rock area, Round Rock donuts are the best.
Better than Shipleys. Shipleys are good too.

DD aren't even fresh. They can't make an apple fritter. Their coffee is terrible. All I heard when I lived in B'more was how good their coffee was. OMG...barf. KK is slightly better. At least they make their donuts in-house (most places). I prefer local donut shops, though I don't eat donuts often.

When I fly through Houston, I run to Shipley's! I grew up eating them in Little Rock. I can't find a decent donut (or BBQ) in the Bay Area.

I voted Dunkin Donuts because they have more of a variety.

DD definitely has a lot more variety with their donuts, and everything else. Look at the list of options online.

On two different occasions, I've gone to KK and was told that they only had two different kinds of donuts (plain and chocolate covered) available at the time. Unacceptable!

I know there are some small DD stores that don't make their own donuts (like the ones in gas stations) but the one by me does make them there and they are fresh in the mornings. DD has a much larger selection and KK doesn't have any donuts without that gross glaze that leaves a film in your mouth after eating them. There's only one KK within 15 miles of my house and I guess they make them fresh but usually I only see them in the grocery store. I'm led to believe that means they are loaded with preservatives because there is no way to make a DD seem fresh the next day, let alone after a week of sitting on a grocery store shelf. People rave about fresh and hot KK's but I can't even imagine how gross a hot custard donut or jelly donut would be.

I know what I like. I don't need dozens of choices of weird flavours to make me happy; I just want a chocolate covered glazed KK and I'm happy.

That said, Krispy Kreme has seasonal donuts that I have tried and found tasty.

Still, I always appreciate the classics.

Variety is hardly a plus when they all taste bad—just means a variety of blech.

When people rave about hot KKs, they're talking about the original glazed. Warm original glazed KKs come awfully close to a religious experience.

Meanwhile, hot custard or jelly doughnuts would taste only slightly grosser than non-hot ones.

Preach!!!!!

DD has variety because they have to beg for consumers.

KK awesomeness stands on its own. I only crave and do the happy dance for the original glazed. I won't turn away KK's chocolate, custard, or jelly doughnuts because any KK is heaven sent. But none of them compare to a glazed---room temperature or warm.

A Krispy Kreme donut is like this weird gooey, filmy, sticky, icky, thingy made to look like a donut. The first and last time I tried one, it left this strange, "bitter/sweet" taste in my mouth. They're really gross. I remember when I tried one, even after I washed my hands, my fingers were still sticking to everything. Yuck!

I seldom eat donuts. I mean, if someone brings Dunkin Donuts to work, and there are blueberry ones in the box, I'll eat one of those. I seldom eat donuts, but I never eat the Krispy Kremey thingies. They're like artificial, counterfeit donuts.

In my experience, some of the most pleasurable things that life has to offer can be rather sticky and messy.

Just sayin'.
