I met a girl named Hennesey when I was in elementary. Needless to say I didn't "get" her name until I was in high school. I also have a cousin named Jordayshia (pronounced Jor-day-shuh) and we always call her Jordache (like the jeans) My grandmothers(dads mom) first name is Henri, but I didn't know this until I was in middle school when my cousin told me because we've never heard anyone call her anything but Christine, her middle name. And coincidentally, my mothers name is Christiane(its german, pronounced Chris-tee-on), which people always confuse with Christine. So according to anyone who didn't know, there were 2 christines with the same last name.
Which reminds me of my Aunt Aleshia, whose sister in laws name is Aleshia, and whose niece is named Aleshia. All of them have the same last name. Overall... I get confused on holidays

The most recent case of Bad Parents choosing names for their kid.

Judge says no to Talula Does The Hula from Hawaii

Quote:
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A family court judge in New Zealand has had enough with parents giving their children bizarre names here, and did something about it.

Just ask Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii. He had her renamed.
Judge Rob Murfitt made the 9-year-old girl a ward of the court so that her name could be changed, he said in a ruling made public Thursday. The girl was involved in a custody battle, he said.

The new name was not made public to protect the girl's privacy.
"The court is profoundly concerned about the very poor judgment which this child's parents have shown in choosing this name," he wrote. "It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily."

The girl had been so embarrassed at the name that she had never told her closest friends what it was. She told people to call her "K" instead, the girl's lawyer, Colleen MacLeod, told the court.

Kudos to the judge for looking out for the kid...and shame on the parents for doing that to their kid!

LOL someone else posted this article in another thread...I seriously laughed hysterically when I read that someone had tried to name their kid "Yeah Detroit"!

I hate improper spelling of names just to make them "unique" such as:

Khloe (Chloe)
Kristeena (Christina)
Kennadeigh (Kennedy)
Maddysen (Madison)
Brittneye (Cassidy)
Karsynn (Carson)
Kaytlynne (Katelyn)

Yes, I have actually met kids with names spelled like this and I think it's stupid. It's like parents don't think of the fact that the kid will eventually have to be an ADULT with that name.

Actually, Jacquie is the correct shortening of Jacqueline. So, the spelling of Jackie is the bastard spelling here unless it is soley a feminine version of Jack.

Oh, well I stand corrected then.

Also, in England, "Jacqui" or "Jacquie" is the common spelling of "Jackie" for women. Madame Alexander's Coquette Jacqui doll is based off of Jacqueline Kennedy, since the French referred to her as Jacqui instead of Jackie.
