Bad Baby Names

Received this article in my daily genealogy, and I haven't heard of a lot of these names. It will take you to here, also.

I had never heard of Carr Chase, or Emma Royd - but there's even more ways people do their best to destroy their children's lives. Enjoy!

My mother-in-law (the Chi Omega, for those of you keeping score) had the maiden name "Belcher". My husband, in true southern tradition, wished to use it as my second son's middle name. He was already to be named William for his great-grandfather, so I asked what his g-grand's Christian name was - William Henry. I went on and on about how much I liked William Henry, and I'm happy to say my little Liam is not saddled with the middle name "Belcher". (My husband's cousin changed his last name from Belcher to his mother's maiden name, he hated it so much.)

Our beloved basketball coach, Pat Head Summitt's father's name was Richard.

SWTXBelle 03-05-2008 11:27 AM

I'm assuming he went by Richard, and not a nick-name.

I went to school with a Pete Moss, and knew Penny Nicholl through majorettes. Penny's nickname was "Six Cents".

I remember a rushee named Ginger Snapp.

I recall oduring membership selection someone saying, "OK y'all Oreo Cookie...who talked to her?"

FYI: She was a legacy and she pledged.

I went to high school with Snow White and Terry Terry.

Snow was homecoming queen and a delightful person. Everyone loved her. It would not surprise me if she went greek.

The Vice Chairperson of the GA Real Estate Commission is named Scott Free. When I received my license I thought it was a joke - "This looks like a Monopoly real estate license. Is this for real?"

I worked with a guy named Mike June. He was a bit older (to my 19-year-old self at the time, 35 was old). Well, he married this god-awful ugly woman. She was the 35-year-old type who wore all pink and ruffles, sweatshirts with airbrushed kittens - you know what I mean?

About a year after their marriage, they had a baby girl - ugly little thing, bless her heart. They named her April May.

These on their own aren't bad, but all together-
My husband's former boss had three kids named Christian, Christina, and Christopher. And no they are not triplets.

I used to work with a guy named Robert Burt. And a Richard Dix. They used to call him Dick-squared.

Back when I was a kid I met a girl who was named Wishapona Starr. I also went to school with a girl named Sunny, who married Justin Day. So she's Sunny Day :)

One of my former students was named (given, not nicked) Princess.

I also know a family whose last name is Head. Mom and dad are Anita and Harry, respectively. For real.

I knew a Misty Dawn in college.
