You own jumpers and wear them. That's bad enough.

There is nothing that can be done to that outfit to make it even somewhat flattering and attractive. Darts and lace? Save that for a home ec sewing project. That's not what people wear.

I have the feeling that your definition of "aesthetic appeal" is much different from the rest of the worlds.

Is it wrong that I just want to take people by the hand and lead them to good fashion?

I think this may be my mission in life.

1. YOU ARE AWESOME.

2. My grandmother is 81, and no, she wouldn't wear that. I don't think anyone outside of Amish communities would wear that willingly.

3. Lace? Does anyone wear things with lace anymore?

For casual clothing I recommend Gap. I was just on their website and could have bought almost everything on it. Depending on how strict the dress code is at your workplace, a lot of those pieces could double for things you wear to work. If not, you can definetly use it for fun everyday clothes.

And on the topic of fashion: in the Sept. issue of Shape magazine there is a fantastic piece on the 25 items that every woman needs in her closet.

The flip-flop ones are a little better, but still on the nasty IMHO.

What's the saying? You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink? We've led towards a lot of water around here lately... horsie no drinkie

1. I don't think that's legal in most states
2. Wouldn't that be sort of incestuous since you're my sister?

Here is a really cute jumper from Victoria's Secret. I just don't know if I would actually wear it.

Jumpers remind me of pre-school.

Try wearing it for 9 years in Catholic school. Kindergarten - 8th grade were horrible years.

Oh, the polyester!

Hey, at least it was nine. A friend of mine went to school here: www.scs.on.ca and had to wear it for 13 (most schools around here only require tunics until grade 4 at the latest)! And calling them "tunics" doesn't make it any better.

That jumper looks like St. Rita's Elementary School! I try not to laugh at what people wear - because I wore white lipstick and fishnet hose in high school - but I am laughing at that jumper!

I think my post was misread. I did not mean lace as in the chantilly stuff veils are made of. I meant ribbons to lace it up corset style.

And no, I still would not wear it. I was just saying it would be much more tolerable on someone else who would buy it. I did see another librarian in the system wear a denim jumper- but she is old enough to have grandkids AND the specific jumper was nowhere near as hideous as that one. It had no center seam "ick".

That jumper looks cute on the model, but it's too high-necked for me. And I would prefer a brighter plaid.

My elementary school jumpers were hideous. They changed the design when I was in like 5th grade. The plaid was horrendous. The styles- both of them, especially the second one- were extremely unflattering. I think they picked the ugliest cheapest fabric and designs in the planet and decided to torture us with them.

My secondary school uniform was gorgeous. The plaid of the skirts and vest trim was very nice. The blue shade of the vest was pretty. The blouses worked well for me. And the overall design and combination looked great and was comfortable. Shows that it was an all-girl school.

I wore jumpers for six years of Catholic school over white shirt with Peter Pan collars and blue knee socks. Oh the horror!

There are so many cute alternatives out there. Why waste your money on a jumper?
