Not to hijack the thread, but if this isn't an argument for allowing SIP, I don't know what is. Please correct me if I'm wrong: liltrixx was at pref, so she should have been on the bid list somewhere, and instead of matching, the spots in Theta went to girls who refused to take them. Now you have a chapter that was disappointed by no-shows on bid day, a chapter having to spend time and resources on COR, and a shut-out PNM who has to bite her nails and hope for another chance. What a shame.

I agree IvySpice. However the girls that were extended bids that are in question here, may have just not shown up on bid day after second thoughts for whatever reason. Believe me nothign frustrates me more about recruitment than PNM's who list sororities on their bid list then when it's not their frist choice they simply refuse to give any other chapter a chance and ultimately taking up a spot for a young lady who wanted to be there.
liltrixx: I dont know your situation about leaving town, but I do hope that you are able to try an make it to the next COR event. I'm sending positive hopes your way. Try to relax. I'm nervous for you!!

I agree - there's no telling what made these girls change their minds and although SIP isn't encouraged, it isn't completely banned either. If a PNM really wouldn't accept a bid from a group, she should not list them on her Membership Acceptance Card. What is needed, across the board, is better education for both PNMs (their rights and the rules) and Recruitment Counselors (the rules and how they are to be explained).
Liltrixx, I hope things work out for you and that you get to attend the next COR event.

Good luck liltrixx. I hope that the second time is the charm. Got my fingers crossed for you!

I agree. Everyone gets so caught up in recruitment that it doesn't really set in until Bid Day or later. It's a shame that these girls agreed to accept a bid, but then didn't put forth the effort when the time came. I think the rules and PNMs rights should be really dwelled on early on in recruitment and that the PNMs should be reminded of the commitment before signing a bid card. Of course, I wouldn't want to have pledges that DIDN'T have their whole heart in my organization. Some of the girls don't realize how serious it is.

Is it just me, or wasn't it rude to be discussing the group that you really wanted while you were with another group that thought you might be interested in them?

I think she is attending Theta COB functions....at least that's the way it seemed from the second to last post. So she's COBing at the place where she preffed, b/c they had some girls not show up. is that right?
