I thought he was saying 'rappin' her like boom boxing, hip hoppery and stuff.

That is sad. How do you keep rape G-rated, anyhow?

Please say you meant "rapping to her" and not "raping her".

I had a student who often misspelled rape with two Ps when using the present progressive (ing tense). I hope he meant RAP (Fat Boys, Bow Wow, Big Daddy Kane, etc).

No, unfortunately you can tell he meant rape. I've seen the same show done in Miami. I hated it. Rape is not funny.

That is shameful. Nobody has had a problem with this? Like when you were at the show, there was no buzz about it?

This scenario does not sit well with me. A fake rape? Stealing stuff? Out of ALLLLLL the things that could've been done in a step show, this group chooses to make light of criminal acts? and people actually laughed?

Wow I am NOT impressed. I heard about that step show too, like i mentioned in another thread my cousin just crossed as a Delta on that campus. Yes he did mean rape, and people were doing stuff to implement stereotypes of that fraternity. I mean Makaveli described the skit perfectly. But like I said before I am NOT impressed.

I agree with skeeliteful, there is soo much more to be done in shows besides acting out crimes and dissing other greeks

What happened to the days when people would give kudos to other greek organizations?? I mean trust me I am not as old as I sound, I crossed in 2004 and just recently celebrated my 2nd Deltaversary. However, at Indiana you will rarely find other greeks 'dissing'/ dogging other greeks in public. Now sure we may joke around and poke fun behind close doors but you will never see us do that at a pro show or a step show for that matter. I really think it depends on the culture and relationships on the campus.

I am actually surprised that there is soo much 'beef' at Ohio State (reffering to OhioCentaur's post). Reason being is that on Indiana's campus there is such a shortage of black students which i am told is the same at Ohio State. Because of this, it has forced us as African-Americans to be closer, especially those of us in Greek organizations. I hear that on some campus', Greeks compete with each other on programs and try to sabotage their various events. On my campus, Greeks often plan events together (1. to split the cost and 2. to ensure a larger audience)

I don't know but from reading this post, I don't think I could ever support dissing other Greeks in public. Now don't get me wrong we all have our personal opinions, stereotypes about other organizations however, I don't think that pro shows or step shows are the best place to annouce those opinions. I guess I see more of a need to try to work together instead of against each other. Some people say its all jokes and fun, but I have seen many shows and parties ending in fights over "jokes"

Just my .13 cents.

The whole rape thing does not sit well with me. Imagine a former rape victim sitting in the audience thinking she is attending just a step show, only to have her act of violation mocked in front of her. I am so bothered by this.

You're not confused.

That step show routine was just plain wrong all the way around.
