I have been listening to Maze (I had to buy **two** greatest hits CDs b/c they *conveniently* spread the two songs that they *know* that I want to hear across two different greatest hits cds - lol).

This morning I listened to two of my favorites:
"We are one" and "Happy Feelings"

I love them! Reminds me of growing up, bbqs and my daddy thinking that he can sang! LOL

I get the same feelings too, but they are with me and my mom. She went to every Maze concert when thye hit Chicago or Merriville. If they were here for three concerts, she was at each one. She is a Frankie Beverly groupie lol!

Did you grow up in the Midwest by chance? I think that Frankie Beverly and Maze (and Earth, Wind and Fire) was seriously a midwest thing back in the day. Now that I think of it, EWF is out of Michigan I think so I wouldn't be surprised.

SC I'm in Chi town with you! I thought EWF was from Chicago. I know that Maurice White and his brother went to a High school on the west side here if I'm not mistaken.

Oh, ok. I didn't know that you were in Chicago. I guess that I didn't realize that the Chi is the land of confusion. LOL
Really? I didn't know that EWF was from Chicago. Ok, ok. That might explain why I grew up listening to EWF being blasted all the time. LOL

Who else did I grow up listening to (now I'm wondering if they were from the Chi too).
Was Minnie Riperton from the Chi? My mother was a big fan. I had to wake up listening to "Love don't live here anymore" every Sunday morning for I don't know how long! It was my mom's "clean up song." Wait a minute, now I'm thinking that Minnie Riperton didn't sing that song after all. Oh well.

BACK IN THE DAY...

OK, are you ready for the REAL HIP HOP THROWBACK?
Whachaknowboutthat

"The Rythym" by Kwame (on the video, he wore that checkered outfit with the orange dye in his high top fade)

"Um the magnificent" and "I got it made" by Special Ed (on his video he was standing next to that Jetta on FOURTEENS)

Last but not least,
"You can cha cha cha to the mardi gras, um the dopest female that you have heard thus far..... You're a wanna be, but you can't because you're not. So you better start living with what you got. KICK KICK (scratching) Kick this one here for me and my DJ."

Mc Lyte had ear rings you could hang clothes on.
