"but it will also show everyone to whom you offer a toothpick that you belong to Theta Nu Xi" LOL

Because everyone uses those to hold toothpicks...

That was my thought -- why not just call them shot glasses?

really KingsKraft?
This is actually hysterical, because I just attended my chapter's last meeting of the semester, and a few of the sisters are in Lion Ambassadors (an organization on campus), and part of what they do is to "promote" the school. When announcements came around, they held up Penn State "toothpick holders" that they were selling. They said, "I know what you're thinking... they look an awful lot like shot glasses... but you'd be wrong!"

But as long as they're on the glass and not on you, you're not drinking in your letters.

And yes, I have shot glasses with our arms on them.

Because they know some people would rather say they are buying a toothpick holder with their letters than a shot glass.

This may just be me but all the shot glasses in my house are the plain ones you get at target for like .50 a piece.

I never saw the draw for shot glasses with "I lost my face in VA Beach!" or "XYZ Fraternity" on them.

We got some as a joke while in Amish Country -- they say "I <3 Intercourse."

But I do like using the ones with our arms on them, and I'm the only one who uses those for the most part.

People, particularly older people, don't always use shot glasses. Sometimes they are bought because of what's on them, like when people are traveling and so forth.

To go with their souvenir spoons?

And in my defense, the only non-plain shot glasses are I have are the ones referenced in this thread.

LOL, point taken.

I actually have a couple of souvenir spoons. Apparently they were my grandmother's and my dad thought I would want them.

LOL Why not?

(((Drinking is for "grown ups" anyway, as far as I'm concerned. When I said "older people" I was talking about people well out of college who really like to collect such items but they will use them infrequently. A relative of mine owned an "antique shot dispenser" (I thought it was a wine dispenser at first) retrieved from some Southern bar 40 years ago. Was it ever used? No, and it was dusty as heck. But, it was cool for what it was. )))

That's perfect for a big bowl of Fuit Loops.

You collect one everywhere you travel.

People think you're either a big drinker or prefer shot glass memorabilia over cheesy key chains and airbrushed tshirts.

All I can think of when I think of Shot Glass collections is the sticky, gooey mess that's on a shelf in some undergrad's dorm room. You don't want to use them at that point, either, because you don't know how many liquids have gone into it since the last time it was washed.
