my goodness - it's election day and I've only just found this thread!

I guess i've been doing too much schoolwork lately (which, incidentally has a lot to do with government information)

anyway I have so many thoughts on the issue, and I must say some of your posts have me second guessing my decision (although I haven't voted yet - after the student council meeting tonight, I will).

anyway, I just have a horrible feeling that the conservatives will win, and In my opinion, that's just bad. I admit, I once voted for Harris (his 2nd win), but never again shall I vote conservative (well, at least not within the foreseeable future)

On a happy note, I have inspired some of my friends to vote, incl some first-timers....yay!

Probably... but we love you anyway.

Hey - did anyone have a "Progressive Canadian" in their riding - on the ballot it said "PC Party"! I'm surprised - rather sneaky if you ask me. I wonder if they'll get mistake votes due to that.

Of course we still love you

Anyway, no, there was no "PC" candidate in my riding. In my riding we have

Conservative
Green
Liberal
Marijuana
Marxist-Leninist
NDP

Or at least, those were the parties listed on Elections Canada website.

Ooo, did you guys hear about the candidate up in Markham who calls his (or maybe it's a her) party the Progressive-CONSERVATIVES??? Complete with a blue sign? There's another candidate, an independent who has a red one. Confusing, huh?

There was no Progressive Canadian candidate in my riding, however I read on the CBC website that the Progressive Canadian party is made up of former PC's who didn't agree with uniting the right - they are trying to re-establish the PC party in a way.

eta: 30 minutes till the polls close in Nfld., 5 hours till they close out here .

I wonder if these were former Progressive Conservative and former Liberal members who left the parties?

I know there was a candidate in York region (for the life of me I can't remember his name but I believe his sister is also in politics) who left the Liberal party because he felt they were not living up to their promises and he used red for his signs and was elected as an independent.

God, it's bugging me I can't remember his name.
