There was one song from rush that was good song but I thought it was sooo cheesy and annoying (you just can never get it out of your head!)
Oh Sigma Kappa, you're the best sorority
You stand for honor, friendship and loyalty
And as the years go by
Faithful we will be
Sigma Kappa, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Kappa
And then we repeat it in around. It sounds great but dear god it is stuck in your head for weeks!!! Hmmm... maybe thats way we used it every year for Rush.
My fav song is to the tune "there's a tavern in the town"
We're Sigma Kappa girls (Sigma girls)
We wear the pin of golden pearls (golden pearls)
Thats the first two lines, I am having troubles remembering the rest but I loved that song!

a few years ago we had some sisters redo the lyrics to Nellys Ride With Me. it went somethin like this i think...
where they at (8x)
if you wanna go and take a ride wit me
to learn more 'bout the sisters of Delta Gee
and why that we feel this way
(HEYYY MUST BE DEE GEE)
if you wanna join a sorority
a feel of sisterhood like the girls of Delta Gee
and why that we feel this way
(HEYYY MUST BE DEE GEE)
in a new school, new town, feel so right
lookin, tryin ta spot someone real nice
lookin for a little place where i know i'll feel at home
(feel at home)
we can be hangin out (hangin out) on a friday night
or helpin the blind with service for sight
but as long as you got your friends girl, you know its on
(you know its on)
i see someone comin towrds me whos so much more
honest and real true
and sayin shes my sister is somethin that i love to do
im always there for you
and that aint nothin new
Dee Gee is friendship, loyalty, and sisters too
i like the way your always there
and i like those stylish letters you wear
i like the way you always seem to care
and i can see you smilin way over there
(repeat chorus)

I am gonna show my age now....
...but this song has stuck in my head since I first learned it at Southern Cal way back when in 1974 (gasp! ) -- I am not sure when we sang it because it does mention other GLOs, but it did stick in my brain all these years so we must have sung it alot!!!! Maybe it was for pinnings.....
I bet the younger GCer's won't even know who some of the ladies mentioned in this song are!
You take the legs of Brigitte Bardot
You take the hips of old Mae West
You take the face of Elke Somer
And from Sophia, take the chest
(We need the chest!)
Then you put them all together
They're neither Theta nor Pi Phi
Ya get more lovin' in this whole wide world
From a perfect Gamma Phi girl
(We really mean it!)
I'm a perfect Gamma Phi too!
Bah - doo - bah - doo!
"THE WELCOME SONG"
(Sung on the front yard during rush to welcome rushees)
Gamma Phi Beta welcomes you here,
Come on and join our fun and our cheer.
We're on the U - S - C campus, fraternity row.
Gamma Phi shouts a welcome, hello!
Oh, Would you like to be another Gamma Phi,
And wear the crescent and pearls on high?
So come on along with me and I'll show you why
All over the land, number one's Gamma Phi!
"I LOVE THE CRESCENT MOON"
(we sang this in rounds during rush -- very catchy!)
I love the crescent moon, shining in the sky.
I love the pink carnation, 'til the day I die.
True to our motto: Founded on a rock.
Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta
Gamma Phi Beta, Gamma Phi Beta
"LOVE, LABOR, LEARNING AND LOYALTY "
(This usually produced a tear or two!)
Love, labor, learning and loyalty,
Gamma Phi Beta means so much to me.
There's a reason here for a reason above,
A lifetime of sisterhood flowing with love.
I've tucked away a song or two,
If you're feeling low there's one for you.
If you need a friend I'm always one,
And there's many more sisters where I come from.
Love grows strong with the crescent moon,
All our years together will pass too soon.
We'll be Gamma Phi's together and when we're gone
There'll be Gamma Phi's here to sing our song.

Cele, we sing that raunchy song - we usually bust it out for the "dorkier" fraternities or when we're really really bored. I just learned the "G Phi, G Phi B, Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta" song from another chapter and I'm going to teach my girls so they can sing it during Homecoming/Greek Week. A lot of our events are held down at the rugby fields, which are down this huge hill, and most other sororities meet there and then do a chant - we like to ride down in the back of a few pick up truck singing and chanting!

That sounds kind of like our "Legs"
(To be sung in a circle with arms around each other, kicking Rockette style - but not quite so high!!)
Legs like Eva Gardner
A figure like Bardot
And when it comes to lovin
She will never let go
'Cause she's a Kappa (chi chi boom, chi chi boom, chi chi boom)
'Cause she's a Kappa (chi chi boom, chi chi boom, chi chi boom)
'Cause she's a Kappa Kappa Gamma, until the day she dies
And when she came to college
She caused quite a stir
The other girls were jealous
They were jealous of her
'Cause she's a Kappa (chi chi boom, chi chi boom, chi chi boom)
'Cause she's a Kappa (chi chi boom, chi chi boom, chi chi boom)
'Cause she's a Kappa Kappa Gamma, until the day she dies
(final ending, Buh duh duh duh DUMMMM - leaning sideways with jazz hands!)
Kind of cheesy, but it's tradition--we always sing it on Bid day, after initiation, on other fun days and at weddings!

This has just reminded me of another really annoying cheer we learned from the alums:
We are the Gamma Phis you hear about,
We are the girls the men can't live without.
And when they see us walking down the street,
They smile and sigh and cry "Oh my but she is neat."
So if you want the cutest one of all,
Short or tall, just call
123-4567 (our house phone number)...
Sorry, line's busy!
Cheesy, I know...we have another one that we do in a circle kicking, apparently they used to line up across main street and do it:
Oh Gamma Phi Beta, Oh Gamma Phi Beta,
Oh Gamma Phi Beta, you're the best sorority,
You're the only one for me. (I think, I always forget this line)
And you can surely bet, that I'm so glad we met,
I want to thank you for such happy memories.
C'mon and join along, c'mon and sing our song,
C'mon and jump right in and you'll be having fun,
Ask any guy you know, and he will tell you so,
The only way to go is dear ol' Gamma Phi!

Rah! Rah! Rah!
.....I remember (30+ yrs ago!) the Chi O's had a song to the Rudy Vallee tune:
C-H-I, C-H-I, O-M-E-G-A
I looooveee you
C-H-I, C-H-I, O-M-E-G-A
Yes, I do
I love you in the morning when the sun is shining bright
I love you in the evening when the moon is {? ?}
C-H-I, C-H-I, O-M-E-G-A
I love you!
and the Alpha Chi's had a song to "Witch doctor"
that had the chorus
A-L-P-H-A
C-H-I, Omega
A-L-P-H-A
C-H-IOmega

During rush the only one that stuck in my head were Chi O songs:
Everybody wants to be a Chi Omega,
Everybody knows that we're RED HOT,
Everybody wants to be like Chi Omega,
All that we can tell them is we're HOT!
RED HOT (CHI O) RED HOT (CHI O)
EVERYBODY WANTS TO GO CHI O!
Goodnight rushees, well it's time to go
(Buh duh duh duh dum)
We hope to see you tomorrow!
(Buh duh duh duh dum)
We really hope that you go CHI O!
So goodnight, Rushees, goodnight!
And now having gone through rush on the other side the song I can't shake is:
Hello, Hello, He-llo, Hello
We are the sisters of Chi O
We want the whole wide world to know,
The very best girls go Chi O!
We love the cardinal,
We love the Straw.
Skull and Bones too
Skull and Bones too.
Our white carnation
Is a sensation,
We love it we do,
We love it we do.
In our hearts there's joy, there's laughter,
Sorority life is just what we're after!
We love it so,
and wouldn't you know,
It's the Chi O sororityyyyyy HEY!

Ditto, Sister CardinalSM! Hey, how about this one (sung to the John Jacob Jingleheimer melody):
C-H-I-O-M-E-G-A...
Please say you'll be one too...
Whenever we are near...
You know good times are here
We're the C-H-I-O-M-E-G-A's!
Ya-Da-Da-Da-Da-Da
(First time-loud, clap) (Second time-softer, snap) (Third time- whisper, bounce)

A Chi-O song got stuck in my head this year while I was a Rho Gamma and was on their porch for 5 strait parties!
Everybody want to go- Chi-O
Round here its the very best thing,
All you wanna do is go Chi O
and listen to the Chi O's sing, were singin
Do-Do, Do-do-wah-wah, Do-Do, do-do- wah -wah
Do-do, do-do wah wah, Do do wah wah, CHI - O
and theres one AOII song that I heard recently from another chapter that I haven't been able to forget.. I just know the chorus though,
Momma's little baby loves Alpha Omicron
Mommas little baby loves A-O-Pi
Mommas little baby loves Alpha Omicron
Mommas little baby loves A-O-Pi
it was too cute.

Every time I see this thread, I think of the same thing. Do you know the one rush song that you use year after year, until you're absolutely sick to death of it? Ours was
Pi, Pi, ADPi!
Like it, Love it
ADPi!
Want it, Need it,
Gotta repeat it!
I just love that ADPi!
Anyhow, one of my fondest college memories is of one of those "You had to be there nights" out on the town. One of my favorite Tri-Deltas was standing on a table, juggling, and singing "Pi, Pi, ADPi!..." at the top of her lungs!
I had dated her brother, and he had to console me when she went Tri-Delta - maybe it's because she was a rush crush that it's so vivid!
