Although most of the info in the CD was already familiar to me (as I've been studying my GLO for the past five years!) there were some items in it that absolutely gave me the chills (in a good way). For example, there were explanations as to how the founder(s) chose some of the symbols for the group and why, and those reasons parallel so closely to some aspects in my own life it's almost eerie!! Friends, I have truly come home and I feel some part of me is now complete!! Thank you for letting me share this happy time with you!!
The AI coordinator also forwarded an e-mail to me yesterday from the collegiate chapter they're making initiation arrangements with. In a nutshell, things ARE happening behind the scenes, although of course not as quickly as I want them to!! I expect to hear from someone from the collegiate chapter anytime now about an actual date.
So you want another clue, eh? OK...twist my arm:
SECOND FINAL CLUE: The land, the sea, the sky.

Okay I must be pulling a total blonde moment cause I totally don't get it.

I'm pretty sure it's a line from a poem, but I don't remember what it's called nor do I remember who wrote it!

A Google of the phrase brings up:

Didn't help me a bit!

The land: pine tree, pansey
The sea: dolphin, pearl
The sky: crescent and stars
I would guess Tri Delta because this, and the fact there is only one other AI from DDD, except for the fact she said the badge was no specific shape-- and the crescent and stars is. Hmmmmmmm.....?

Alpha Delta Pi's colours are pale blue and white.....the sky and clouds.
ADPi's mascot is the lion, a land animal.
Ummm...water is also blue???

Actually, it IS a line from a poem - one which I wrote about how much I love my GLO. See if you can finally guess which one it is based on the poem(s) below, keeping in mind that ALL previous clues still apply (I'm so bad...!!)
Is it...?
ODE TO ALPHA DELTA PI
The land, the sea, the sky,
none of these can ever contain
my love for Alpha Delta Pi.
...or is it...?
ODE TO PI BETA PHI
Over the land, over the sea, in the sky
my arrow is guided by the ideals
of Pi Beta Phi
...or could it be...?
ODE TO TRI DELTA
On the land, on the sea, in the sky,
wherever I am
I am a Delta Tri
...or maybe...?
ODE TO GAMMA PHI BETA
The land, the sea, the sky,
the fairest of these at which I sigh
cannot compare to the fairest of thee
O lovely Gamma Phi!
...but then again it could be...?
ODE TO ALPHA OMICRON PI
The land, the sea, the sky
A beautiful ruby, rose or pearl
though none is better
than an AOPi girl (sorry...er...woman)
...but I'm thinking it might be...?
ODE TO THETA PHI ALPHA
Land of white rose loyalty
sapphire blue in sea and sky
Sisters, I am going home!
Home to Theta Phi!
As you can tell, I'm starting to crack from the pressure of sitting on this secret for so long, and have started to speak in crazy rhymes. It's been two weeks since I found out I've been accepted as a sister, and I never dreamed it would take so long to be able to have an initiation date to share with you!!
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the poetry.

Clues

I mentioned earlier that I'm only aware of one other AI mentioned for this group so far in this forum. Yes, I was looking at the AI roll call when I said I was only aware of one other AI for that group.
Second Clue (this one's lame, I admit, I'll do better for the next clue):
It's sort of ironic that I found out I'll be able to pledge my lifelong loyalty to this house on or around St. Patrick's Day.
Clue 2 1/2: My future home is not D Phi E, unfortunately. I had no idea they were founded on St. Patrick's Day when I threw out that hint. That's so ironic!! I'm sure D Phi E is a fantastic group.
Clue #3: Their badge is NOT a specific symbol, such as an anchor or a key.
Clue #4: My new group has three Greek letters in its name, not two.
Clue #5: This organization was founded in the 19th century.
FINAL CLUE: The identity of my new home has been correctly guessed during the course of this thread.
SECOND FINAL CLUE: The land, the sea, the sky.
|
1: ADP, AGD, DDD, DFE, FM, SK
2: The only thing I can think of- Lake said on or around St. Patty's Day which is March 17th. March 14th (3/14) is "Pi Day" which would relate to ADPi. Otherwise you have the color gold for Tri-Delt. Lake DID say this particular clue was lame! (Threw out the other orgs cause they get eliminated with the later clues.)
3: Specific to that org? Diamond is not exclusive to ADPi. However, I'm interpreting this to mean A specific symbol- as in one. Tri-Delt has both the crescent moon and stars for it's badge.
4: Still leaves ADPi and Tri-Delt.
5: Yup- both still in it.
FC: Both have been guessed.
SFC: Have to go with Tri-Delt here. I can't think of anything that relates to the sea for ADPi.
So I'm going with DDD
Lake- please explain the whole St. Patrick's Day thing!
AND TELL US WHO IT IS!!!!!!!!

Now I'm going to be wishy washy! Knowing that the Second Final Clue is a poem of Lake's own composition I'll have to change my guess to ADP! Personally, I like the ADPi poem better, I AM an ADPI and with Lake's poem, now I have something from the sea to apply to ADPi!
Lake- you're killing me here!

Clue #2 has nothing to do directly with St. Patrick's Day (the holiday). It has nothing to do with the date March 17 and the org wasn't founded during the month of March.
Go back and read clue #2 slowly, word by word, then think of all the possible insignia including symbols, colors, mottos, mascots, etc. available in any organization and that might help clear things up a bit.

Hmmm...I still think it's Delta Delta Delta with a possible nod to Theta Phi Alpha. I could be wrong though! The only thing I think I'm certain of is that it's not AOII
No matter who it is, here's hoping for a lifetime of active involvement and sisterhood for you with your new sorority, Lake.

It's really hard for me not to be biased right now b/c the way I interpret the clues (as I posted earlier along in the thread) I came up with ADPi being the "choice".
Now with the poems, I still think it is ADPi.
I went and looked over the clues again and except for number two (where I just sat here for like ten minutes reading and re-reading it but I'm still no closer to understanding it) I'm "fairly" certain I "got it". LOL.
In all honestly I would LOVE it to be us but at this point I JUST WANNA KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't keep us in suspense any longer. Suspense and I are not friends.

TELL US ALREADY!!!!!

Okay, have to add my 2¢!
I really think it's either Delta Delta Delta (from trojangal's first post in congratulations to Lake), or Alpha Delta Pi.
Whichever it is, Lake, you've found a great home!! (Although I'm a bit biased...!)

Ok, so I went back and read Clue #2 "slowly" and I came up with something that works (emphasis added):
"Second Clue (this one's lame, I admit, I'll do better for the next clue):
It's sort of ironic that I found out I'll be able to pledge my lifelong loyalty to this house on or around St. Patrick's Day."
Then, above you say that, "Clue #2 has nothing to do directly with St. Patrick's Day". Right then.
Alpha Delta Pi's international philanthropy is the Ronald McDonald House.
