Exactly. That's why I said the thread was helpful.

Some sites have a "shop by color" feature so you can see all the white dresses at once. It's easier to sift through them and find the right length/neckline/sleeves without having to worry about color too. Pretty helpful!

This one is pretty modest and isn't sleeveless.

Edit: I like this one too.

My chapter allows a white t shirt and shorts. As long as you're wearing white, you're good. I did choose to wear a modest dress, though.

UGAgirl93,

Please, please do not think I am picking on you (because I really, really don't mean to be). You seem like a lovely person with a lot of enthusiasm.

It's just that the examples you are posting in this thread might mislead PNMs because they are in this thread. Most of the dresses you post would not be suitable for sorority ritual wear. They are not conservative, modest dresses, and that is what the PNM needs to get. It is not about impressing any guys that you might walk past on your way to the sorority house. It is about being reverent in your attire.

Even if you are just posting those choices to yank our chains, it might confuse a PNM who thinks those dresses would pass approval. They belong in a "What not to wear for Ritual" thread.

Smile Not so easy

White dresses even following this thread for dd in her sorority ...not so easy. LOL! Both her white dresses got nixed at fall recruitment even after we had sent a pic when she bought it and was approved. Bought 2 more and then find out next year has to be white...long....I just started laughing cause what else can we do?!

No worries. You haven't offended me. I understand why you said everything you said. I went ahead and deleted all of the ones that got a flat out no just in case. To be clear, I know what you wear to initiation/ritual/etc. isn't about impressing boys - of course it isn't. There aren't boys at those events. It's about you and your sisters. It goes right along with not being allowed to "go out" during initiation week. I don't think any of the dresses I posted were particularly sexy or clubbish, even if they weren't appropriate (or perhaps not even close to appropriate) for ritual and I certainly wasn't trying to imply that a ritual dress should be for attracting a man. I do, however, think you should at least kind of like your ritual dress since it's something you'll wear more than once, during events that are really meaningful.

The last two I posted are significantly longer and are not sleeveless. I've seen what girls wear to initiation at Georgia and the last two would probably be fine on their own and if not then certainly with a cardigan. However, if you disagree about those I will gladly remove them too. We don't need anyone coming here and getting confused. I am sure most PNMs understand what is allowed at their chapter's initiation, what is appropriate for their height and body type and will dress accordingly, but nonetheless I wouldn't want to mislead or mess anything up for them.

I won't post any more dresses to avoid being misleading.

I keep asking "Queenie" if she needs 1)a long white dress, or 2)a black dress, or 3)both of the above. She seems to think that she can handle what she needs just fine without me losing sleep over it. Silly girl, she has a lot to learn about sleep habits in old people!

Lilly Pulitzer has their yearly collection of white dresses out right now.

I bought this dress over the weekend at Dillard's. It is nowhere near that short on me.

Was at Express this weekend and saw several spring dresses that would be great when paired with a cardigan for some of the shorter PNMs! Reasonable price points as well

Nordstrom's has actually updated their Savvy section in our store to include lower price point items. We picked up a lace sleeveless dress for my dd this weekend for a dance that she can wear during round 3 of recruitment- very covered up on top. At 6' every thing is shorter on her then most people but it still passed my test and Dad didn't mention it so I think we are good.

You can shop online -- free shipping and free returns. Yay! You might get lucky and find a dress on sale in the size you need.

Go to women's dresses, and narrow search by color (and price, size, etc) with menus at top of results:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/womens-d...e=&segmentId=0

Also, you can check ebay for dresses -- easiest if you have a specific dress or brand in mind -- but check the return policy of the seller if you are unsure of fit. Here is a link to Lilly Pulitzer dresses in the white/ivory category currently listed, for instance:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Dresses-/638...ories%7CWhites

.
