I re-watched the episode and I felt like slapping Abby when the girls came in to console Maddie and she told them to stop and not play that game. What bullshit. They felt genuinely bad for Maddie because they've all been there but Abby never cried for them or consoled them.

Because it's tv, I have to remember that the events we see may not be in the same order as they actually happened nor the comments correspond with the event they are matched with.
So, I was wondering if the Joffrey phone call actually happened after Abby left. It seemed very quick during the episode and would have seemed out of place if they had placed that scene after the drama that went down with Abby leaving. Can't end the episode on the dramatic note then. Not to mention, there aren't any scenes of a parent, dancer, etc... telling Abby the phone call even occurred. Maddie was stressed the entire episode, so those scenes could have been at any time. Eagle eyed, GCs, did anyone catch a costume clue or time piece that could have given a timeline?
Disregarding the timeline, wow, what an episode!

Is anyone else watching? I was disappointed but not surprised that Abby didn't care or explain as to why she ditches the girls after the last competition. I was also irritated that she never gave any kudos to Chloe for winning the Joffrey ballet scholarship. I also dislike her blatant favoritism towards Maddie while constantly putting all the other girls down. Does anyone else think Melissa is the most conniving of all the moms? She tries to come across as a spineless goodies two shoes but no one buys it. All the other moms see through her.

I don't think that Abby is ever going to address that. Many of my teachers were old-school ballet dancers (usually over 65, save for one), and they meant BUSINESS. However, they did not insist that they were always right, nor did they act in such a disrespectful manner (to students or parents). And nope, I can't stand Melissa. Mackenzie is adorable, but I'm really not a fan of acro. And Maddie comes across as quite a plastic dancer to me, I can't see any real emotion.
Abby's choreography is weak, and repetitive, and when Chloe, Brooke, and Paige leave the studio (I believe Nia might be leaving as well), it will be interesting to see how long she lasts. I would like to know where these "employable dancers" end up. It's not overly difficult to get a job on cruise ship, which I'm guessing is where a lot of her students end up. Also, on a logistical note, how can you teach dance if you can't actually move?

Easy. I could teach tennis even though I probably can't move the court anymore. The other groups that they actually show do look stronger though.

I would argue that it's different when the choreographer has a specific vision but can't actually demonstrate it (or even attempt to), a lot more gets lost in translation. These girls are very talented, but still young, and despite what Abby says are not professional. The comprehension isn't there, and they need someone who can actually work with them on that component of dance.

Abby is seriously irritating with her blatant favoritism. I agree with Christy that Abby gave Chloe boring choreography and gave Maddy much better choreography thus ensuring a Maddy win in the competition. Then she goes & secretly enters Maddy in a different competition. Oh brother. I'm glad the moms didn't buy Melissa's innocent act pretending she was surprised. What bullshit.
I'd like to see Peyton dance more. I don't know why but I kinda like her.

It seems like all the dancers have dances in which they're continually flinging their arms in front of them to show their agony. One of our local dance teachers choreographs almost all her modern dances like that. It's obvious enough that when her name is mentioned, my sons throw out their arms despairingly and dramatically.

A lot of the dances remind me of a junior high talent show. I still hate most of the music. I think the girls need more strong ballet basics. Do you notice how many of them continually fall out of their turns?

Saw a familiar judge's face a few episodes ago! We went to college together. She is a Delta Phi Epsilon.

Y'know, she didn't sound half-bad when she wasn't autotuned into oblivion. I hate the super-manufactured pitch-corrected stuff.

I have a question for all you ex-competitive dancers out there: Is it normal to have a competition EVERY weekend? I get the impression that most of the other dance companies a) bring in more dancers for their competitions than just 1 team of 7 girls and b) only go to competitions once every two months or so.
As this season progresses, I've also become convinced that the whole thing is staged, especially the "rivalry" with Candy Apples. Abby was on an episode of "Drop Dead Diva" and it her "acting" was basically the same way she was as on the show. I'm pretty sure the whole group is self aware. And at least, not they are asking the kids to leave the room when they "fight".
Hi, My name is TPARose, and I am addicted to crap TV.
