Yea I saw that. I just gave about $20 to iTunes myself.

I found out while I was at work. While MJ was a little "odd", he made great music and I feel horrible for his children (as his oldest is only like 12). No matter what anyone thinks of him, he was their father. My heart goes out to them.

That's what the boy and I have been thinking. The human body can only take so much without rebelling in some form.
I hope he had a will that specifies good guardians for his children. I shudder to think who he could have named.

I don't think he would have named anyone too *weird.*
I mean, most of his siblings are pretty normal.
Not sure how I'd feel about his parents though.
There's also Elizabeth Taylor as a possibility, lol. I'm pretty sure she is one of the kids' godmother or something...

^^^ What about the kids' mother? She didn't relinquish all of her rights, did she?
ETA: Never mind. It looks like she did give up her rights.

I am fairly sure that she has no rights to them.
I think that was a stipulation for having them and getting the $$ (that she terminate her rights).

Remember the even bigger deal that the "Thriller" video was? Awesomeness.

Nothing in my original post conveyed that I firmly believe that he committed suicide. Of course it is speculation, just as I still speculate that Anna Nicole Smith possibly committed suicide.
His life was filled with risk factors for self-harm and suicide from the age of 9 to the age of 50. Some of these suicide risk factors include the self-inflicted risk factors for cardiac arrest such as the "need" for prescription drugs and/or illicit drugs, as well as the risk factors for cardiac arrest that aren't necessarily self-inflicted such as stress and heart disease. That's that and I'll leave it at that.

RIP Mike..you'll be missed by many.
It's funny, because just last week I was teasing another GC member about a post regarding MJ, and now he's gone. I posted this youtube last week as a response, having no clue he'd be gone this week.

I know! Apparently she and Stevie Wonder were too distraught to make statements.

What's going to happen to all of those people who had tickets to see him this summer?
|
Those tickets just became collectors items...again...peep ebay...heh
Ok....
I am predicting that within 25 years he may surpass Elvis as one of the richest deceased artists.
I think in part because he owned rights to the Beetles collection.
Just think about this, for starters, there is a Beetles Rock Band coming out soon.
How much does his estate stand to make from their cut of the profits from that game?
How much of his unreleased recordings will be 'found' within the next 10 years?

(Sigh) According to some media reports, Michael allegedly left the portion of the Beatles catalog that he owned to Paul McCartney in his will in order to repair the rift between them over it. I hope not. I was hoping Paul would NEVER get his hands on it again. Especially since he was acting like such a jerk about it. Dude, Michael outbid you fair and square. Move the hell on!

what Snopes had to say on this issue. YMMV
The Straight Dope covered this also

So much of what he owned in ATV Music was so heavily mortgaged. He offered to sell it a few times. I think we'll see the extent to which he was leveraged and enabled momentarily.
Paul and Yoko had ample opportunities to purchase the catalogue, but MJ just outbid them. Even Yoko said that it was better to have someone not related to the Beatles to own the songs. I don't know how I feel about it. We're going to learn a lot soon.

I always thought that McCartney should own a larger portion than Jackson did, since he was a Beatles. Maybe he did.
