I understand the concern and I give those that are ticked all the room they want to be ticked, it's not my org so I don't have any judgement about how you should or shouldn't feel.
But trying to be as objective as possible and looking for any kind of silver lining, the old marketing adage "There's no such thing as bad publicity" has been around forever for a reason. It's true. In a field of 26 NPC sororities, your org (or something similar enough to evoke connection to your GLO) and all these other orgs posted above are front-and-center. In dealing with today's generation and the half-a-second attention span everyone has, anything that gets your name known and makes your name stick is a plus. The movie is obviously a parody, the preview I saw, honestly, I thought made the sorority look positive, the one being made fun of the most is obviously the ditsy playboy girl. And it won't be the worst thing if an incoming freshman comes on campus, signs up for rush, sees the list of sororities and says, "Oh, ZTA! That's like in that movie!" And then boom, she and all her rush group are talking about the movie and left and right and left and right all everyone's hearing is "zeta, zeta, zeta". I actually feel bad for all the other groups this fall, no one else will have had a major motion picture out to get their name known among the masses before school starts, and for all they know, they may end up sitting there talking to rushees in their own houses about the movie and thus continuing to bring people's minds back to Zeta. As long as the real chapters on the campuses just do their thing to show their true selves and have great rushes, they have a huge opportunity to attach all that pre-set name recognition to their wonderful selves and get everyone wanting to go back to ZTA every round.
Just another perspective... lemonade out of lemons and all that.

Thank you for that. That's a good point that hadn't really been well-made yet, and you're very right.

For the first time ever, I saw the commercial for this movie on TV. Thanks to GC, I wasn't like "what the heck is this...I've never heard of this before or seen the trailer."

I think this movie is going to be hilarious. Either dollar theater or rental, though.

hey hey, kids... new rule. No more talk about the movie until it comes out. We're fighting over nothing here. If I wasn't Greek and I came into this blog, I WOULD think negatively about Greek life because you're all at each other's throats about a stupid movie that NO ONE has seen yet. That's like criticizing a food before you've even tasted it.
Be happy :-)

Why can't those of us who are eager to see the movie talk about it?

We're grown...and happy. And we don't need your stupid rules.
You and these nonGreeks don't have to come back to this thread. But we will continue to post as we choose.
Sound good?

If you had more than 14 posts, I'd listen to you. Okay maybe not. Gotta love n00bs who like to play Judge.
If a non Greek came and saw this bickering, I don't care. If they form a negative opinion because of this thread, so what? It's a waste of time caring about what people think, anyway.
When does this movie open again? Woohoo Beverly D'Angelo!

Will you be the first to see it and start the worship thread?
Maybe I'll go see it by myself (none of my peoples would see a quirky comedy in the regular theater) in a week or so.

Beverly D'Angelo
While I have no reason not to love Beverly D'Angelo, I have yet to be a part of the D'Angelo Love Renaissance.
(Or perhaps we can't call it a Renaissance because it was never gone?)
Can someone poetically explain the D'Angelousity or D'Angelicness?
I mean, I did enjoy National Lampoon's Vacation. I have a foundation.

wow, so... evidently telling people to be happy is the wrong thing to do now-a-days.
And apparently because i've made less than 20 posts on some random website, I'm not allowed to have an opinion.
so... everyone hate each other! woot.

You're grossly oversimplifying your initial post. Don't kid yourself.

Wow. Do you seriously think I was pissed off, and came in here to act as mom to make everyone stop talking?
Why are you taking this so seriously? If my opinion really didn't matter to you, you wouldn't be responding over and over to everything I say
The fact is, people are saying the movie portrays Greeks in a bad way when they haven't seen it yet. Same stuff everyone else has said. Move on.
