what is this girl's deal?! If you look around enough, you will realize that this (GC) is not the place to send out an invitation to a self pity party.

Ditto!!!!!!!! Once again I will say as I believe myself and others have stated in other threads.......a sorority at any school has the right to cut any PNM at anytime for any reason as do the PNM's have the right to drop any sorority from their schedules at anytime for any reason. Constant speculations and pitty parties are a waste of time and energy. Move on and get over it. Not being greek is not the end all be all.

All you want to do is wear letters and say you're a member, not contribute anything to the chapter. We called them "jacket sisters" at my school.

LOL, I like your sig.

incredible that many girls would lie.....on my daughter's applications we had to submit the official ACT/SAT scores and the HS transcript with the GPA on it....no way to lie there unless you changed an offical document I suppose!

Do the PNMs who lie on their applications ever get caught?

For example, if a PNM says they had a 1200 SAT when they really had 1080, and their Panhell catches this discrepancy - does anything happen?

Yeah, they put the PNM up in front of a firing squad.

Seriously, as I understand it, Panhel will correct the information before forwarding the application to the sororities. Thus, each sorority is informed about the lie/misrepresentation and can decide from there what to do.

I was a recruitment counselor last year and one of my girls didn't put down a GPA or something. She somehow made it through to the last night before Preference before a Panhellenic member came up to me to find out what her deal was. The chapters had repeatedly invited her back, despite the fact they didn't have a GPA for her or the right GPA. I had to confront the PNM and tell her that if she had to tell us her true GPA. I also had to find out why she was lying to the chapters. She told me that her friends were doing the same thing and that they "knew" they would never get caught telling the chapters that they had higher GPAs than they really did. Needless to say, I explained the whole grade release process and that if she didn't tell the truth now, she would get dropped by most of the sororities if she ended up there becasue they could get her GPA from the school. It took me a good 20 minutes explaining to this girl that she was wrong and that we in fact could get her grades as soon as she signed the release form for her grades. It was such a mess and a pain in the butt having to deal with.

IF YOU'RE A PNM GOING THROUGH THIS FALL- DON'T LIE! THE CHAPTERS WILL FIND OUT YOUR GRADES. IT WILL ALSO CAUSE YOU LESS EMBARRASMENT TELLING THE TRUTH UP FRONT THAN WAITING UNTIL YOU'RE IN A CHAPTER AND HAVE TO BE RELEASED DUE TO GRADES!

Is it just a Texas thing that PNM's must submit a copy of their transcript with their application? Also, if you are already in school, the form you sign to sign up for recruitment allows PH to check you grades through the University.

Here at Kent State, when a freshman signs her application, she's agreeing to let us contact her HS and have her GPA disclosed to us. Upperclassmen are agreeing to let us contact the registrar and view their transcripts.

Since we do deffered recruitment..GPA is checked against a woman's first quarter (if she is a freshman) or present (if she's upperclass status) GPA., rather than HS gpa. On the signup sheet for recruitment, there is a box to put your GPA, and I believe that the greek life advisor checks it against Cardinal Web, and if you don't meet the minimum rush GPA, you don't rush.
