My freshman year roommate was nicknamed the hobbit by my friend George. She never had any sex in our room. The girls beside us however had sex on their bunk beds which slammed against our wall. I was not happy. Then a semester later they became my sisters. Go figure

My freshman year is probably a year that taught me A LOT. All of the rooms were tripled with one bunk bed and one lofted bed. Well i was on the sailing team so needless to say, I was hardly around. And if i was then i was trying to study and get my work done.
Well after fall break the other two roommates got in a big fight. It was pretty much over one roommate having sex with her boyfriend while the roommate was in the room. So by the time i realize what's up, i was out of the loop due to sailing, these two like majorly hate each other. So the one roommate (w/o boyfriend) moves across the hall.
Spring semester it's just the two of us. Then my roommate's boyfriend dumps her. CHAOS begins. She is heartbroken, wants to do anything to hold onto him, blah blah blah. Meanwhile, her b/f and me are friends, which she hates. Finally they cut things off and she goes nutz. Stops eating, starts clubbing, missing class, whatever. She hates that I have a boyfriend. It pretty much all was downhill after a screaming match in which i said, if you're that unhappy go die!

Sophomore year was when they paired me with a freshman. My original roommate decided to transfer. Well I must have the january break up with boyfriend karma b/c that's what happened to this girl. Mind you, fall sem, i tried to get out of the apt, but couldn't, so i lived at my boyfriend's pretty much.
So now she and her b/f have broken up and now it's ok for her to bring random guys home to sleep with them. Umm no, especially when there were a few nights i did sleep in my bed (we shared a room).
The icing on the cake was when she brought home this old guy and his daughter. I was so pissed I left the apt and didn't sleep there and in the morning they were in her bed with the daughter asleep on the couch!

The last two years went much better.

My freshman year room mate and I got along really well. In the beginning of fall semester we used to go a lot of places together since we didn't know anyone. So we have a good amount of mutal friends as a result of this. We used to get dinner together with our boyfriends pretty often. Even when she and her boyfriend broke up, the four of us still went out to eat dinner together since they stayed really close friends. She had early morning classes but was able to wake up to the quietest alarm imaginable, so I was never woken up in the mornings when she was getting ready and leaving for class. Every once in a blue moon we would sit down and have these really in depth talks about life and how things were going for each other, since the both of us had tendencies to be gone from our rooms for long portions of the day.

I felt really bad when I made arrangements with my current room mate though, since I hadn't known my freshman room mate didn't have someone to room with next year. I probably would have roomed with her out of respect that we had gotten along so well freshman year had I not known. She'll be 2 floors below me though next year so it's not like she'll be very far away. We still talk on the phone during the summer, so I'm sure we'll still be in touch during the fall.
