Here's a rumor i heard about LSU.

I've heard that when the drinking age in louisiana was changed from 18 to 21 that enrollment at LSU dropped by 40%.

Any of you tigers know if that's true or not?

KS 361 times i wouldn't have went to LSU if the drinking age was 18, but i'd have done some major "Smokey and the Bandit" bootleggin on weekends

The biggest legend at UGA is if a freshman walks under The Arch, then they will never graduate. I've heard variations that if ANY undergrad walks under it, they will never graduate.

A building on North campus has a stairwell that leads to a brick wall(or maybe a locked door?). I think the story is that it used to be a dorm and someone killed themselves on the 5th floor and still haunts it. Apparently there was a lot of blood that could never be cleaned? Not sure. But there is a stairwell that leads to a dead end.

The bulldog statue in front of memorial hall. One year, LSU fans coated it with vaseline. Apparently, there still is some in...private areas of the dog.

Also, my sorority house has a resident ghost, Donna. I think she was killed on Milledge in a wreck. She didn't want to leave DG, apparently! my sisters who live in the house(I lived in the dorms this year) say she sticks around the 3rd floor a lot(which is where I'll be next year!) or the founders room. Some people say if you are studying at night in the founder's room, she'll come by. She is supposedly very friendly. My sister Mary said she turned off her light to go to bed(she was alone in the room) and someone said "Good night, Mary". I can't wait to try and run into Donna this fall!!!

Edited to add a few more i found:

The iron Arch structure has stood on Broad Street at the end of College Avenue since before the Civil War, and the story was once told told that underclassmen who pass under the Arch will never graduate; another version is that freshmen must not pass under it, risking discipline by upperclassmen.

The story nowadays is that underclassmen who walk under the Arch will have a life of sterility -- a story that's told in different versions on many college campuses nowadays.

A similar story goes around about the bulldog statue outside Tate Student Center, which is said to bark at student virgins who walk past -- but hasn't barked since 1966. This story also shows up all over the United States, altered to fit different college campuses -- collegiate kinds of urban folk tales

i go to Elon, in NC, and there aren't too many rumors and whatnot....but i've heard a few

~there is an all girls dorm, Carolina Hall, and supposedly the singer James Taylor wrote the song "Carolina in my mind" about the dorm because that's where his gf lived (this one isn't true, but i like it bc i like that song!)

~the oldest building on campus is an all-girls dorm called West Hall. Apparently it is haunted by a ghost....I didn't live there so I don't know, but people swear that they hear stuff

~yet *another* all girls dorm story, ha: North Hall, this crappy one story dorm by the stadium, used to be a storage facility during WWII for weapons....or something....they actually just tore down North last year bc it had rats and was deemed "unlivable"

~there is a fountain in the middle of campus, which is a popular gathering spot for students; if you are caught swimming in it or doing stuff to it, you get fined $500 (don't know if this is true but i have DEFINITELY seen people in there)

~in the basement of the science building, McMichael, there is a morgue. i remember they told me this on my tour of Elon and i was kinda freaked out. the anatomy classes have to go down there but no one else knows how to get there!

at clarion we don't have any virgin or walk here never graduate rumours (or if we do, in the 6 years that i have been there i've never heard them)

1. hart chaple- it's a theater and rumour has it the guy it's names after was producing a play, but no one liked it so he hung him self in the corner of the balcony. you can, suposidly, see him there when the lights are out, also in the window when you are standing on wood st. Kappa Kappa Psi brothers were practiceing for a recital and the one sitting in the balcony, listening to the other play (they were the only two there) looked over and saw a man sitting there. Also during tbs ritual we have heard what sounds like heavy pounding foot steps comming from the stairs while waiting for the new members( who come in the elevator at the opposite side of the building)

2. we used to have a kissing bench rumour, it was like if the girl kisses the guy first they will get married. but they tore that out, which is a shame cause it was a cute little place.

3. One of the ghetto dorms has a room that is painted a different color because there was a fire in that room and the person that lived there was killed. it's a different color because the color of all the other rooms wouldn't cover up the damage. (i think the color is a blue, and all the other rooms are yellow or pink)

4. in becht (an all girls dorm) there is a servive elevator/dumb waiter thing and some one (drunk i think) looked into it one night and it was comming down, and they lost thier head.

5. AngelPhiSig and i are heading to the bar if there is ever nuclear war/bombs in clarion. why? because the Loomis (local bar) is a fall out shelter....

6. that chris kirpatric from n'sync is from clarion....no people he is not. his grandparents live here, but he is from oil city. my friend steve is the choir director there and he replaced the guy that was chirs;s choir director.

i think that's it. if any one else here is from clarion and know's more, let me know, i like this kind of stuff.

LOL!!! I never heard that one, but it has a real feel about it!

I might believe it if they said it happened the year they ended the draft!

Supposedly a girl hung herself in Givan (an all girls dorm) and still hants the dorm. All I have to say is that when I had a single there my tv would turn on and off in the middle of the night when the remote was across the room. Things would mysteriously relocate and one time I found my mug (which I kept on a shelf) in the bathroom with milk left in the bottom (I don't drink milk, I lived by myself, and I kept my room locked). Also, After locking my room for the night and double checking the door sometimes the door would swing open in the middle of the night. It was freaky.

DeltAlum you totally freaked me out with that website! I'm sorry I looked at it now! LOL UGAnchora I had no idea about the DG house! And I stayed there! We have to have more convos about this. For about a year at my school we all believed Leonardo Dicaprio would be attending. We heard it on the radio and everything. The news for my town contacted his publicist (sp?) and they laughed and said he would not be attending! LOL We were so disapointed. Not surprising though b/c our drama department was lacking...

also at the univ of s. carolina i was told the Longstreet theater was haunted b/c they used to store bodies there during the civil war and of course there were unground tunnels and some type of silver man was seen there before they were closed off...

Buffalo State's next door neighbor is a close down psychiatric centre. So rumor has it that at night when you walk around the ground, you can hear screams and chains and other weird sounds. So me and a few friend decided that we're going to break in there. Rumors are true cause when we were in there, we herd noises and it was creepy.

My freshman year at MTSU, I heard a rumor that a little store just off campus that offered the "coldest beer in town" was acutally the center of the universe. The story says that some cult group came through town in the 1960's and declared it the center of the knwon universe. I've also heard they have a hellmouth in the back beer freezer.

Anyways, all who enter the store are doomed to die in Murfreesboro. Supposedly, the only way to break the curse is to urinate on the marker at the center of the state--it's only about three blocks down the road.

There are other rumors, of course, but this one is my favorite.

my school is relatively boring, being that it is in oklahoma but we have a few rumors

our president hastily resigned earlier in the year... there were rumors of imbezzeling.

we also have a mental health facility right next to campus, right down the street from the dorms, they have patients that escape every now and then and I have heard of classes being interrupted by fugitives..

the sig taus have tons of furniture stored above the ceiling in their room in the su. this is true but I am not sure how much furniture, I know there are some desks and a couch, but I dont know what else besides their porn tapes..

My school has been known for:

Being the party school of the East with the most STD's and Rape

It is also rumored that Linda Tripps daugher goes there and that she is a lesbo!

And Lastly that there is more alcholol consumed in one weekend (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) Thats considered a weekend here, than there is water consumed in a whole school year!

Can you guess where I once attended?!.....RADFORD BABY! Party School
