To be fair, there's only an inch difference in length between the two dresses and the model in the second dress is 5'9. Then again I'm considerably below average height-wise and it's hard to make anything look short on me so I'm probably a bit biased.

I understand it is usually longer on the young woman than it is on the model. Our original requirements (back when I was initiated) was tea length or floor length. Then we went to mid-calf being ok. Then we went to knee length. The whole time, the dresses seem to be a little bit shorter than the required length. When young women are seeking out ideas here, I think we need to be careful that it doesn't look like mid-thigh hems are acceptable for Initiation whites. They might be for some sororities, but they are not for others. I would rather see a long white peasant skirt with a white blouse and cardigan than something mid-thigh. And please ladies, wear comfortable shoes! WHITE ones. /rant

This past year, a new member showed up for the pledging ceremony in white volleyball shorts, with a completely appropriate white top and cardigan. *sigh*

Honestly? I'd rather see that than a skirt that doesn't cover her ladyparts.

We are telling you what is suitable. It is up to you to use this information or disregard it.

I would die. I see girls wearing those at the gym and honestly they might as well be boyshort underwear. At least at the gym it kinda sorta makes sense.

That's true, I didn't think about that. You wouldn't want a girl thinking their dress should look on them the way the one on the 6-foot-tall model looks (short).

Yeah, that was my concern. I wished the back were a little higher. The length would probably be okay on a shorter girl but that would just mean the back would be even lower.
What about this one? It's strapless though.

Sorry, I just always think of this thread every time I see a white dress!

Length is good, but most groups will not allow bare shoulders (from my understanding). Not sure if you can just add a cardi or not.

I know you can add a cardi at some chapters at Georgia. Not sure about others.
I see why this thread is so popular now. Finding a dress looks kind of hard.

If a PNM goes by our posted examples it should be fairly easy.

We allow adding a cardigan. We even allow a white skirt and blouse. That's far better than too short or too much skin.
