There was a little bit of a ruffle because one of the other sororities did dirty rushing with a large group of girls... basically telling them to suicide and they'd pick them too.... and didn't, so a HUGE number of girls got dropped... it was not only sad for those girls because it ruined the whole experience for them and didn't get placed, but it upset the other sororities on campus.... I'd say they convinced a good 20 girls to suicide... and only took 6.

ya know, i never understood why a group would do this... it doesn't make any sense, makes them look bad, makes the PNM's feel awful... nonsense I think...well.. anyway,
CONGRATULATIONS to you and Gamma Phi Beta! yay!

I know they were reported, but the word out last night was that there was an alumnae (spelling??) at pref night and they told the girls that at the pref night party... not the active girls....so b/c someone didn't witness it (girls that suicided told a rho when they called to tell them they didn't get a bid that it was OK and they told her they'd go get her at midnight...) they can't do anything about it???
Is that right?? It just doesn't seem fair that they can "use" the system like that. (not to mention the PNM's that went through recruitment)

It was my A... my top choice all week. When it came down to it, it was a hard choice in the end... but I knew I'd be happy with either one!

Age ain't nothin' but a number.
|
I'm with you on this. If you recall my retro "rush" thread, I don't know if I mentioned it, but I was actually older than the oldest senior in the group at the time I joined. I'd also had a lot of tough life experiences that the others lacked that made me grow up a lot. Yet my age was a total and complete non-issue, even though I joined in a pledge class with members who were 17 and 18. In fact, the one time during my membership when I was really frustrated with the immaturity and lack of perspective of a group member, the problem member was a junior, and an officer.
I'm not saying that every group will ignore age like mine did, but age tells you way less about someone's maturity level than I used to think.

Congrats to you and welcome to our sisterhood!!!
My chapter had a member who was a senior when I pledged; she was in her late 20s, married, with two children and was SUPER involved. She even allowed us to use her home for events, which was IMHO above and beyond the call of sisterhood. Reading your story I'm sure you will be an amazingly valuable sister!
Congrats again!

Wow, I've only kept up on 3 recruitment threads so far and they've all resulted in membership at Gamma Phi Beta! Congrats to all!

I use Photobucket: www.photobucket.com
Open up a free account, then upload the picture.
Once the photo is uploaded, go to where it is located at the bottom of the page.
Copy what is in the Direct Link Field.
Go back to GC and start a post.
Click on the Insert Image Icon (yellow square that looks like it contains a mountain).
Delete the http://
Paste your link that you copied from Photobucket, and the image should appear
