I agree, and I'm not blaming the media. Eating disorders are just as bad whether they're "not eating anything" or "eating all day long"

The only people I've ever heard of doing that are people who have some form of dwarfism. Not just your random, petite, 5'2" chic. And it still isn't KILLING THEM!
Seriously, how can you EVEN compare that surgery to people with anorexia or bulimia?!?!?! Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is?!?!?!

There's nothing wrong with being short. Instead of complaining all the time about stores not catering to you or beauty pageants not catering to you, how about you grow some self-esteem and realize that being petite is not the end of the world.
Every one of us has some physical "problem" that keeps us from finding clothing that fits us. But we've learned to deal with it and move on with our lives and not burden others with our miniscule problems.
Jeez...it's like every thread turns into a whiny thread about how short people get no respect. Wahhh.

I think looking like a Miss Universe contestant might be a bit tough, because you are limited by your bone structure as to how small you can get, but I think if people (men and women both) were to do resistance training (i.e. weights), a decent amount of cardio and you eat "clean" (i.e. as little PROCESSED food as possible), you can make your body look pretty damn amazing.
I like the Figure and Fitness competitor women that I see in Oxygen magazine...I think they look terrific. Strong, fit and healthy. Uh huh..that's what I'm talking about.

Actually there have been normal heighted petite people who've had the surgery, though this is mostly overseas.

Again, if I wore a size 20 and complained about the lack of choice for me, you'll all be applauding my campaign. But since I'm short and thin, you're making fun of me. Quite a double standard, eh?

No. You're dragging yet another thread through the petite mud. Take it back to the Petite thread PLEASE.
If you were a size 20 and doing this I'd be equally annoyed.

Just for the record, my friend had the surgery that Taualumna mentioned. She was in a horrible car crash, had her car wrapped around a tree, and lost 2" of bone in one of her legs when the firemen had to cut the car open to get her out. She needed the surgery to make both of her legs the same size again. I don't know what kind of people you know, but this isn't a cosmetic surgery that just anyone can get done. You need to have a medical reason for it.

If you wore a size 20, I can almost guarantee that Rudey and Bobby would be all over your thread telling you to go to the gym and Macallan25 would be telling you to go on an all scotch diet.
