I finally got to see the end today.
First, it made me really miss coaching. Second, OMG I was nervous for them. LOL.
Wow! I didn't realize that they literally just competed in Nationals in like February (or possibly early March).
My friend from high school works for Varsity/UCA so he was at that competition.

Dunbar Wins!!!
Just read from Varsity.com that Dunbar took home 1st place for the 4th year in a row!!!
They were in group B and advanced straight to the finals.
Order of the winners...
1. Paul Laurence Dunbar High School
2. Henry Clay High School
3. Franklin High School
4. Vernon Township High School
5. Pinelands Regional High School
6. Ouachita Parish High School
7. Holy Cross High School
8. Ryle High School
9. Bishop Guifoyle High School
10. The Ursuline School
11. Hunterdon Central High School
12. Upper Darby High School
Here is a picture of the girls competing.
Is it me or does this not remind you of the routine they did last year for Nationals? I specifically remember this stunt.
Also, I believe Aryica is base for U, Ashley is base for A, Ryan is flyer for B and Amanda is flyer for A. But the picture is hard to tell.
I really, really, hope that since we know they won that lifetime followed them. I'm such a cheer junkie! I need my fix!!!!

I love that Henry Clay came in 2nd! I went there freshman before I transferred to Tates Creek my sophomore year. How I miss Lexington.
PS. I heard there is no season 2 this year and if there is it wasn't filmed at any Lexington high school.

I was searching youtube and I came across the Dunbar nationals 2007 routine.
The video isn't the greatest quality but you can see the routine. Good routine.
For those who wanna know Ryan is the "B" (the person shooting the video actually says it. LOL). She also comments on the amount of fulls that they had this year.
here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM8aS4Kqxyo&NR=1
edit: I'm not sure if this is the Varsity squad though. I just checked the PLD cheer site and it shows a picture of the JV squad at nationals and they placed 4th. The uniforms are the same. It looks like varsity wore the black ones (from the picture).
the only weird thing is that the woman kept saying "ryan" this and "ryan" that. If it's the same Ryan from cheerleader nation, how much would it suck for her to spend two years on varsity to be demoted to JV.

True, but at the same time, having your mom as both mom and coach could work for or against you.
She'd be a junior this year, right?
When I was a cheerleader we'd be so snarky about the junior girls still cheering for JV. If you didn't make Varsity by junior year, chances are you'd never make Varsity at all. We were so bad back then.

Yeah she's a junior this year.
Your right about the whole JV/Varsity thing, that's how it was at my school. JV was for sophs and juniors. There were a lot of girls who made JV but never made Varsity.
But then, the requirements could have been a lot harder this past year for the girls trying out, plus there could have been more talented girls trying out. They (Saleem and Donna) did say that it was purely based on points (so top 22 scores made Varsity). Ryan could have not been one of those top 22 girls.
question- Do JV squads compete in their own competition at Nationals? Does anyone know?

JVs sure compete around here. At a lot of schools freshmen can't be on varsity, yet because of all the cheer gyms in metro Atlanta you see JV squads who are better than most college squads. The whole squad has fulls, etc.
However, JV squads can't compete for state at this time.

Is it sad that I'm going to miss this show when there's not a new episode on this week?

Talk about withdrawals! I watched the finale on Sunday morning (love that DVR) and then found an all-day marathon on the Lifetime Real Women channel. This was serious TV Crack, with the added bonus of Lexington shots every once in a while. Not to mention that earworm of a theme song (5 6 7 8!) I'll miss it.
