Well, I don't know how it'll work out, but the San Diego AA is planning to "help" offset some of the cost of Convention for a delegate to represent them...now, it remains to be determined who that delegate will be.....

Girlies this is just a reminder, I'm more than willing to have some sisters stay with me at the house (estimated closing date is now mid to end of April).

I mean I'll only have a guest bed, a couch and an air mattress but it would be pretty much free. I would only ask that sisters help with gas and food. If sisters don't mind laying on the floor in sleeping bags (I might buy a air mattress though for myself b/c the other one is my parents), the more the merrier. Although, car wise, I can only fit 4 other adults in it. So if more than 4 sisters are wanting to stay, others will have to rent a car.

Just let me know if y'all are interested.

It makes me so sad to say this...

I've decided not to attend Convention this year. I was planning on going - with my husband! - but unfortunately, he is still out of work (from his neck-break in Nov.) and it would be imprudent to spend the $$ on Convention at this time.

Convention update:

Part time registration IS NOT due on 4/29. That is the due date for Full time participants (alums and collegians).

I don't and some information I can't give away but woo this convention is going to be awesome. Y'all are going to love it.

Oh the Processional, whether you are participating or not EVERYONE has to wear WHITE.

NO SLACKS OR FLIP-FLOPS!!!!!

So start looking for a dress (I found one at Target), a skirt (I found mine at Banana Republic) and white shirts (which you can anywhere).

Good Luck!!!!!!

The girls sent the president's and my registration in today AND I found a dress in Victoria's Secret Catalog AND got $10 bucks off the dress thanks to a sister who sent me a special code which did not require a minimum purchase. Anyone looking for a dress, Vickie's has a TON and they are priced resonably (I got mine for $27)

So as a side note I have shoes similar to these except the band is white. Think those would be appropriate for convention or do they need to be ALL white?

To be on the safe side I would also bring a pair of all white shoes. The reason I say that is they have stressed to us at our meetings that it is all white. No black stripes, ribs, nothing. Complete and utter white. Too the point where the white sandles I have with a really light brown trim, I won't be wearing. I'm going to buy myself a new pair of completely white shoes. I have been told that they are extremely, picky, I guess. To the point if you are not in all white you can't be in there.

Girls just play it safe. ALL WHITE. Like a wedding dress, all white no color. Same with the shoes, all white no color.

Just to officially clarify...
if you are participating in the traditional processional (which for the first time this is being opened up to all attendees, not just voting delegates), AND be in the official convention picture, you MUST be wearing all white dresses/shoes (without colored trim, etc.)

If you do not want to participate in either of those, you can wear other clothing and still attend the opening session (however in the 7 conventions I've attended, almost everyone wears white so that they can be in the picture.)

Going along with what I have previously posted and what Christy408, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring WHITE UNDERWEAR!!!!!!

I have been told by past convention attendees that you would be surprised that sisters will actually wear dark/black underwear underneath their WHITE dresses.

PLEASE don't do this!!!!!!

No one wants to be the one that the sisters remember as "the sister who wore black underwear".

Christy408, girl you already beat me at the Old Timers banquet.

Or lace! You'd be surprised how many people can see lace or a thong under clothing! Better yet, bring a WHITE slip!

Just my opinion - don't wear these.

I remember about 4 years ago a sister was wearing red underwear...

Unfortunately I don't get to add #8 to my convention song this year - I can't go.....

If you don't know - at "Old Timer's Night/Alumnae Dinner" (this year they are being combined) we sing what is called the "Convention Song" Everyone stands and we start to sing...This is Convention Number One, Number One, Number One, This is Convention Number One, have you been to two? If you have not, you sit. It's a ot of fun. There are sisters there that have been to 20 or more. It's a toss up anymore as to who has been to the most since Miss Blake is no longer with us. Her last convention (the 148th) was her 33rd.

Hope everyone that attends has a wonderful time.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I actually went out and bought a pair of white heels. I tried the dress on with the shoes and the shoes were too casual for it.

Anyways on a different note, got my Convention confirmation email from EO yesterday. Its official that I'm going yay .

Oh, we will definitely figure out a way!!!

I sent in my registration, so I'm going part time and can't wait to go - it's my mini-vacation of the summer!
