Easy. Zero.

You see, when BU threw BU Greeks off campus, they weren't concerned about Greek life in general. It was a punitive measure against BU groups. Those same houses were sold to MIT greeks, who are there today, for the most part. (My old "dorm" on Bay State Road was LXA's first house!)
Bay State Road? Our HQ was at 135 Bay State, Boston, up till 2002 when we moved to Lewis Wharf ...

Yep, the very same I believe. As long as it wasn't owned by a Boston U. fraternity, the president of the University didn't care; he just didn't want any Boston U. greek orgs on campus.

The chances of any orgs securing housing at Boston U. are extremly slim; there was brief talk about letting fraternities get some of the brownstones over towards Beacon Street and Park Drive, but that talk went nowhere fast. The fraternity system as a whole is still pretty small (Kappa Sigma is the only chapter with more than 25 members), and it doesn't look like sororities will get on-campus housing either despite growing numbers. While there are unofficial off-campus houses for many orgs, official housing is merely a dream.

I'm not expecting it anytime soon, and neither is anyone at Boston U.

And, as sairose mentioned earlier, SAI's Alpha chapter is still running as well, and has been open since 1903.

It would be awesome to be a part of an Alpha chapter...to have that much history! My chapters are 41 (Theta) and 56 (SAI) years old.

Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta has never been closed and remains one of our best

Yup. The house I referred to in my post was 157 Bay State Rd. There's even a pic of it in a fraternity rush booklet from the 1950s I dug up in my travels.

I agree w/ KSigKid that the odds of traditional Greek housing coming back to BU are somewhere between slim and none. But some of the old guard are holding out hope - there's (finally....) a new prez in town, and where there is new blood, hope springs eternal.

I don't think Long John Silber will ever appreciate the damage he did by eliminating the old "Greek Row". As I mentioned in another thread there is some enormous old NPC history at BU, and the school made major contributions to the Greek system in its earlier days.

This is one reason that I'm on the side of Greeks reaching out to independents. There's more of them than there are Greeks. You want them to think well of you--you never know when an independent will be in a position to make or break your legacy. And this *one* guy was a human wrecking ball to Greek life. Who knows? If his experiences had been more positive, he may not have made that choice.
