One cheesy TV movie that hasn't been mentioned here is the 70s film The Initiation of Sarah with Shelley Winters. She plays a housemother to the "geek" sorority on campus, and the "initiation" involves black magic and witchcraft in one way or other.
Sure, it portrays both sorority life and witchcraft in a bad light, but the movie is still a lot of fun to watch.
I'm glad my sorority experience isn't like that. I'm pagan and didn't "go Greek" until in my late 40s.

It's cool that she didn't let her hazing experience stand in the way of joining a sorority!

"Going Greek"
Best Greek movie ever.
There are some pretty wicked hazing scenes/stereotypes--but a lot of realistic things and underlying themes that the writers probably weren't even trying to show, but they did. We suggest that every new member class watch it together.

they sold out like that for $1500?! ridiculous.
and i find it weird that NYU film students would be into making a movie about greek life.

That was called "She Cried No" or something like that. I remember that on TV.

Anyone besides myself seen/own a copy of it?
It was once supposed to be an hour long special with the two directors (one directed Old School afterwards) current NYU students going from college to college trying to get on the inside of Greek Life and the "pledging" process. The movie won a Sundance Film Festival Award for documentary (until it came to light that what it is in may not actually be all true).
Eventually they stumble upon Alpha Tau Omega at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania.
(Some facts here may be wrong but this is what I have found researching the topic via the internet and talking with a member of a another fraternity at the school while the movie was shot.)
The two producers paid ATO $1500.00 to shoot the movie in their house where they would pledge them and other Brothers would participate in the pledging process for them to make their documentary. If you haven't seen the movie, good luck finding it, but it is worth checking out if you ever get the chance. It really would shed negative light on the Greek system across the nation if this ever aired on National TV. Since the movie ATO at the school has lost their charter and are no longer a Fraternity on that campus.

I've seen that mess. *SMH* I really don't think it's all true. So much of it was 'for the camera' it's hard to tell what was factual.

What do you think the most realistic movie is? I'm sure it will vary for everyone. For me, I think its probably Going Greek, with a few exceptions. Obviously the movie fraternity had a bit more diversity in their fraternity than us, but the way the interact was similar. Also, they had an actual fraternity house, made their pledges do stuff, etc...I also think the 2 minutes from Can't Hardly Wait fits the bill. The only unrealistic part was him wearing that shirt with the big letters on it.

I pretty much agree with this, Going Greek is probably most accurate and I think the best. Haha, Pledge invaders cracks me up everytime I think about it. That one scene reminds me so much of my chapter. That and when the one guy voted the one pledge in just because the other guy didn't like him. That could have come from our minutes.

I think I remember this one! Two sisters rush, and the one goes to the Popular Girl sorority, and the other goes to the "eerie" house? Sort of like Carrie Pledges.

Honeychile, that's the one. I not only remember it, I have it on video (Yeah, I know, take away my man card now ). Two sisters go to college, one joins the popular group (Alpha Nu Sigma) and the other the "spooky" (Phi Epsilon Delta = nicknamed Pigs, Elephants and Dogs by ANS) house. Spooky house sister goes all "Carrie" on the popular house after they pelt her with mud and rotten tomatoes. Add in Shelley Winters, Morgan Fairchild (as the b****y popular sorority girl), a demon dog, then get some popcorn and let the good times roll!
