Wow, it's been five years since Mississippi State opened for extension. Anyone here understand the reasons this campus needed five years to announce a colonizing group?

If a sorority used to be there and had a rough time, it's hard to decide to come back. Deep Southerners have long memories.

That's interesting - Alpha Chi Omega is full speed ahead with extensions. They have:

-- University of Rhode Island - Fall 2021

-- University of Mississippi - Fall 2021

-- Chapman University - Spring 2022

-- Mississippi State University - Fall 2022

Gonna guess they were making sure the chapters were near or at total before bringing the new group on.

It's cool that Alpha Chi will be starting up at Ole Miss next year and then Mississippi State the year after.

Delta Sigma Phi at Mizzou.
https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news...s-indefinitely

Their housing changed over the years -- 805 Richmond from 1930-1935. When I was in school they were kitty-corner at 600 E. Hitt (AEPhi was at 805). Delta Sig returned to 805 sometime in the past 20 years. [It would be interesting to do a title search for these properties. The Mizzou Phi Mu house was occupied by Lambda Chi for decades but when Phi Mu recolonized (after a 50+ year hiatus) they moved back.)

The University of Iowa chapter of Acacia Fraternity has been closed. Closure is due to hazing and RMF.

Subjecting new members to this is horrible. This is not brotherhood.

LaneSig, I want to thank you for keeping this thread active! I rarely add anything, but do appreciate knowing what's up with GLO chapters!

Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been suspended for two years by the University of Kentucky. Suspension is due to failure to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, alcohol policy, and violations of the student code of conduct.

Pi Beta Phi at Washington University has been closed following a vote of collegiate chapter members affirming the chapter’s desire to disband.

These announced votes to disband make me curious how many NPC chapters we DON'T hear about which have voted to close. Just how broken is the greek system, and how many undergraduate women will be left standing to keep it alive?

With this in mind, I wonder how many NPC chapters took the same vote, and decided that their sisterhoods would benefit more from working from within? We never seem to hear about those chapters.

This was done earlier this semester. I am told by some who know that Pi Phi would never close just because of a chapter's vote, but that they look at the campus culture and decide whether, at this time, the school/Greek situation is so toxic that they would just as soon close for now.

I think they'll be back.

Wow...”founded in 1907”. That’s over a century of history and thousands of women initiated. I wonder if the current members reached out for alumnae input before making this decision?
While all these disbanding are, ultimately, the decision of current sisters, do they consider the disenfranchisement that’s a by-product of all this?
