the sniper called a gas station less than two miles away from my house
Maybe a little more than that. But still, its like a three minute drive.

Let's hope that the arrests made early this morning are the right people.
And, let's hope that this doesn't span a lot of copy-cat crimes.

Well from news reports it looks a lot like they've got their guys... They've been convicted in the media at least

It's more than likely the right guys. There's too much evidence against them for it not to be. Plus they found a .223-caliber rifle in the trunk of the car, along with a tripod and a scope. If it's not them, then it's a really weird coincidence!

A tripod? This I have to see. A tripod is used as a mount for a machine gun. I would bet that what they found was a bipod, but it doesn't really surprise me. The media people were probably just trying to show off their intelligence that they can count all the way to three.
I guess I am a bit cynical since they have little knowledge about what they report and if they don't know they just make it up rather than put forth the effort to get it right. They all, except FOX, seem incredibly disappointed that it was a black muslim rather than an white, NRA member, militia type.

What motivates people to kill? This might make me sound like a wuss/fag/dork or whatever, but doing that on Grand Theft Auto III doesn't seem like much fun anymore. I hate serial killers!!

I'm not sure... but I really can't understand these media types when they say it has ANYTHING to do with video games... That seems like such a huge stretch and people take the suggestion too seriously in my opion.

Really not sure on that one O.P... I wondered the same thing when all this stuff happens. Like what makes people *hate* so much and what leads them to do stuff like the serial sniper. i wondered the same thing after the 9-11 attacks.

I do like FOX, well, better than the others ntway, simply because they at least attempt to show both sides of an issue. Under orders from Murdock, a socialist, they try to keep the reports either unbiased, giving only the information, or split opinions 50/50 liberal and conservative. They only appear to be conservative because all the other networks and CNN are so liberally biased. I was amazed the other morning that Katie Couric was speaking to an NBC Technical Expert who actually knew what he was talking about. Come to find out the guy was a former FBI hostage negotiator. Katie kept trying to push her own 'ban the evil guns' agenda, but the agent would not help her, he just answered the questions accurately with only one personal opinion thrown in.
A news broadcast should give me factual and accurate information about a topic, allowing me to decide what to think. That is jouralism. A news broadcast that gives me some information and tells me what to think is an editorial and should be labelled as such.

Okay maybe it's just me but whenever they had those guys reporting about updates...did anyone else get so frustrated that you couldn't understand them, or that they were so slow to get the information out.
Like I'm not trying to critisize them, but I wanted to just yell,"dude, speed it up and give us what info you ARE going to release." They were so slow about talking and almost annoying to watch.
Oh well, maybe I'm bing too critical but that's the only thing that totally annoyed me!
Glad they caught them! I'm sure it's a relief for everyone living in the area!
