I'm glad you liked Tri Delt, but I'm so glad you found a home no matter what house it is! I hope you have an absolutely fabulous new member period!

Congratulations on Alpha Delta Pi! I have known many wonderful girls who are members of this sorority. One of the sweetest little old ladies I know is a member of ADPi too from WAY back when!
On a side note - when we do bid matching on our campus, we try to make sure that all girls walk away from the process with bids. At times, some groups do end up with an "extra" two or three girls. We try to give quota additions to smaller chapters first, but also try to make sure that all girls who attend a pref receive a bid to avoid the cross-cuts. Some times it just works out to one chapter's advantage. But we don't know the details here, and for all we know Tri-Delta was the smallest chapter on campus. Regardless, sounds like 23 girls have found a new home in the Greek system. Congrats UCLA girl!

For those of you wondering how UCLA rush works, most houses do go over quota as Panhellenic does really try and match girls to their top choice. Also, only one house out of eleven did not make quota and they only missed it by two. TriDelta had an awesome rush also and made quota plus four and we have a larger chapter. We are so estatic about our new pledge class!
UCLAgirl, I just found this post because I haven't been on in a while and I am so glad that you found a sorority that you are truly happy with and even though it wasn't with TriDelt, I know you will be happy at ADPi. I know so many wonderful girls in that house!
Congrats!

JENNNNNNNNNNN!!
I knew you would get into the sorority that is right for you. I'm so proud of you, but I never doubted for a second that you'd be in the Greek system!
Congratulations to you and your new sorority! You both really lucky to have each other.
XOXO,
Annie.

Whoa...back off a little. The GA is not making those decisions by herself. Quota at UCLA is set in a manner that maximizes the number of chapters that make quota. It is voted in by vote of all chapters after it has been run at several numbers and then NO women are cross-cut b/c EVERYONE invovled in Panhellenic VOTED on it and believes it is better to match those women than to cross-cut them.

This post is from 2002. The OP probably graduated three or four years ago.

That said, I think it's a good example of an honest, but tactful, recruitment thread. The OP gave probably too many hints to her identity, so I wouldn't recommend that to future PNMs, but I appreciated knowing which groups were in contention.
