I thought I had posted this, but the search feature says I didn't, so...
I absolutely hate the word "invite" when used instead of "invitation"! It sounds so low class and ugly. When I was in chapter, we would only issue an invite to someone we were forced to issue an invitation to. *shudder*

I absolutely cannot stand when people misuse literally.

you can thank Trina and Lil Kim for that, amongst others. i do enjoy the phrase "that's a bad bitch!"

Multicultural. Yes I get it's important in the classroom but I'm so sick of hearing about it every single class I take!

can we add words like "praxis," "diasporic" and "marginalized?"
as long as i can keep "socioeconomic," im good.

praxis and marginalized I'll give you. I haven't come across diasporic though so I'm not sure on that one... I'd also like to nominate No Child Left Behind as I spent a whole semester talking about it in one class.

I wish people would just say "NCLB" instead of "Nickle-B". I can't stand "Nickle-B."

Nickle-B sounds like someone is talking about Nickelback. Since NCLB and Nickelback are the two suckiest things yet to come out of the 21st century, I see the connection.

I have never heard it called Nickle-B. Interesting... I can sort of see where it comes from but agree that it sounds like nickleback.

"Boo" or "Baby" sometimes preceded by the word "my".

Normally I don't like when people refer to themselves or others as "bitches" but I do take a great deal of pleasure in the term "HBIC."

I can't stand the way that people use the word "hater."
In my day (LOL), the word "hater" was used to describe a jealous person. Now, a person gets called a "hater" for disagreeing with someone! Makes no sense to me!
Also, I can't stand when people say "Let the haters hate!" or "We love the haters!" etc. If you're walking around saying things like that, there's a pretty good chance that no one is actually "hating" on you (i.e. no one is actually jealous of you).
