I use the "acne fighting" concealer. Its amazing, and keeps you from breaking out!

Newbie, I love the girls at UCSB --they are another of my chapters and they are absolutely fabulous young women!
Yes it is true that Maile was an Alpha Phi at UCLA. We were in the chapter together. She did a lot of our rush entertainment and is truly one of the most gifted singers I have ever met.
A lot of the undergrads at UCLA go to USC for grad school and vice versa. UCLA is actually the single largest feeder school to USC law school. Kind of ironic.
Amycat, I will try to PM you again. Weird, it hasn't shown you as being online for the past little while either. On the Clinique note, I used to use Pore Minimizer. I was totally adicted to that stuff b/c I have really oily skin (keep reminding myself no wrinkles as I get older), but they discontinued it a year and a half ago. They've tried to get me try the concealer you use but I am always scared of new concealers or foundations. Based on your vote I may just have to try it!

Laura-
Give the concealer a try. I don;'t have bad skin--but like you, its oily and I have big pores. And of course the occasional breakout and lingering blemish.
I used to have to use when I used Prescriptives--concealer (which concealed nothing) base and powder.
With the Clinique, not only has my skin cleared considerably--all I use it the concealer and their pressed powder compact. I feel so low maintenance compared to my old routine and love the feel of virtually no makeup on my skin!

I'm definately a Clinique girl... oh yeah... I CANNOT live without my Citybase foundation matte powder, but THIS is what the guys flock to in my opinion B&B Calming Waters lotion, trust me!!! You all have to try it.
Funny story... the other day I was at the bars and one of my Phi Sig friends, Dan, came up to me and said "I smell fruit!" He proceeded to smell me and all of my roommates and then say "Why do girls always smell like fruit!? Guys don't even like fruit! I want a girl who smells like steak and mashed potatoes!" I was dumbfounded! As much work and money as most girls put into smelling good, and some fraternity guy wants me to smell like meat??? Goodbye Vickey Sec's! Hello prime rib!!!

Ohmygosh!!! I forgot to add that new Covergirl Outlast. I am soooo serious ladies, if you want a lipstick that is completely eating-proof, smoke-proof, makeout-proof, and... well... you get the idea, you have GOT to try this stuff. I prefer the color Brazen Raisin.

Lauradav, isn't the UCSB campus gorgeous? I visited this summer, along with USC and another school - and I fell in love! But 'SC is still my first choice, though - I felt more at home there than anywhere else.
Wow, Maile was in the chapter when you were there! That is so cool .
Amycat, I have a question about the powder thing - my skin is extremely oily (I hate it, but hey, when I'm older = no wrinkles!) and when I try powder, it just isn't the right color, and it looks so obvious . Am I doing something wrong? I have a hard to match skincolor, so maybe that's it. I've tried blotting papers and mattifying fluid but it just doesn't work! (I.e., it only works for about 30 minutes.) I guess I'll be stuck with shiny skin.

I always use NARS blush in orgasm (funny name I know), stila lip glaze in strawberry (it's really shiny and not goopy!), and either clinique eyeshadow or hard candy eyeshadow. I went to this store called Ulta when I was visiting family out west and they had Pupa, so I bought two of their kits and I just love their eyeshadows and mascara. I may be switching! I'm a makeup junkie, I almost went to a college just for the sephora ( I didn't though...and have to go to Chicago to get my sephora fix)!

I have oily skin too and hard to match skin color--in that things tend to change color on my face--yes freaky--when I used prescriptives I had to use the expensive custom blend to get it right, but clinique for some reason, works. I think it is more "basic" in its colors so it matches a lot of diff skin tones-- let the clinique makeup counter women work with you, they'll find one that works. And, it totally absorbs the oil too-I've had no shiny nose and cheek issues since I've been using clinique.

I love my Clinique makeup!!! I rarely leave home without my New Black eyeliner, Pearly Gates lipgloss, Jet Black mascara, and Happy perfume. I also wear clear eyebrow gel everyday.

I like L'Oreal's makeup. I've always thought they have the BEST mascaras! I've tried Cover Girl, Maybelline, Mary KAY, and Clinique and Loreal is the best!!!
I also use one of their eyeliners- It's a kind that is always sharpened. It's very easy to blend- that's what makes it great!
Just got their Color Fresco eye color in Icy Spice. It goes on wet and cool and then dries very quickly. LOVE it!!!
Cover Girl's sheer lipstick is great- it's like chapstick with color , very hydrating. \
BUT THE BEST SECRET I HAVE IS: Coty eye-rimming pencil in white. I would notice in college these soap opera stars had something white on the rims of their eyes-really made eyes stand out. Coty also makes it in a slight blue for those with brown eyes. And some other colors, but white can be used for all color eyes- looks great when you are tan.
Have any of you read the book, Don't Go to the Beauty Counter without Me? by Paula somebody(don't remember last name) . She tests all makeups & rates them. It's at the library too.

I've heard that Lancome and L'Oreal are virtually identical products (made by the same company) but L'Oreal costs less than half as much. Anyone know if this is true?

I have heard this also!
I guess they are just marketed to different people.

I used to be completely Clinique loyal.. but then I ran a little low on the $$$. So I got hooked on Jane and Covergirl. I once found a Wet and Wild lipstick that was the perfect color, and stayed on no matter what I did. Then I lost it and couldn't find it at the store ever again. I just newly got hooked on Mary Kay, and I love their Velocity Facial Cleanser and Lightweight Moisturizer. I love Velocity stuff because it smells exactly like Clinique Happy!
