When I was in college, all the names and hometowns of the new pledges at the University of Nebraska were printed in the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star. I don't know if they still do this or not, so I thought it odd that it seems to be like searching for the holy grail to find out who pledged what at Georgia!

I could defer to a BAMA grad but -

If a pnm goes to a pref party then she is somewhere on that sororities BID LIST - I don't think the sororities have to "have a meeting" again about the list. The list was made to invite the pnm's to pref. The only other "recruitment" decisions that will be made tomarrow are snap bids and quota additions. But please BAMADAD don't worry about those - they only help the pnm.

The bid list from the sororities are compiled on the computer after all of the parties, to update all of the pnm's attendance - then after the last pref party and after the last pnm inputs her interests the computer does its magic.

Believe me neither the pnm's nor the sisters are getting any sleep tonight - be it nerves or bid day preparations. When do they go to get their bids? (or should I look back on this thread?)

My D feels bad. I understand that competition is a way of life, but if all those young ladies feel as strongly about sorority life as my D, the impact of rejection must be awful. But for the grace of God go I, as the saying goes. She considers herself terribly fortunate to have had such excellent luck throughout rush week.

I will be sure to update everyone once she calls this evening. Stay tuned to BamaDad, a very proud father no matter how the chips fall....

there is my answer wow that sure does seem late - we might not know what happened to BAMA DAUGHTER until monday morning unless she is going to call you via cell phone asap.

Maybe, maybe not. Membership Selection of each GLO is of the double-secret variety. I've been to MS that took an hour, and ones that took 3 hours!

Either way, ordering take in and relaxing in a hot tub is a great way to prepare for tomorrow!

If I understand correctly, each sorority had their A list and B list in order before the Preference Day event today? Or, did they rank the pnms today after the Preference Day event? In either event, is everything in the computer now as I speak?

By the way, I will go on-line with the results tomorrow night, regardless of the time.

I would like to share with everyone her three preferences with the forum, but I will feel comfortable only if I knew it would not possibly affect what is going on with the sororities selections today. Follow my logic, concerns, etc?

I got it.

I follow your logic. The only problems is that while some of us could speak for how things work at our groups, we're really not suppose to tell, and we'd have no way of knowing for sure how the other groups do things.

I'd say chances are good that things were pretty set before the girls were invited to prefs, and I suspect that the bid list from the sororities were due before now.

The groups will probably get the lists of matching bids early tomorrow and have some time Sunday to call girls and snap bid.

The way I see it though, I don't think any harm could come of revealing which houses she went to for the last round, especially if you don't indicate which she favors.

If I recall correctly - the girls invited to preference night ARE on the bid list. It just depends where on the list a girl is...If XYZ lists a girl on their first list and the girl has XYZ as her number one choice - then she'll get a bid there. Girls from the bottom of XYZ's third list start making their way up to the final bid list as other girls ahead of her choose another house.

Does that make sense? Of course, rush has change so much since I was there that I could be completely wrong now.

I can't wait to hear how everyone does!

Edited to add that when I was in school, we received final bid lists as the new members were literally on their way to the houses. It was always mass chaos to make sure we got girls matched up as big sis/little sis before they got to the lawn. Snap bids were given out within 24 hours of the final lists being made. Because the pledge classes were so large, you'd never know if one of your sisters wasn't there on bid day and was actually a snap bid.

Every chapter does their bid list compostion differently, however it is most common to create the bid lists after the last preference event. Most chapters spend HOURS creating these lists. If you want to tell us what events she attended, but not in any order of preference, it should have no impact on the bid lists themselves.

Keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed for a happy ending! Ok, maybe not the eyes crossed part. My mama told me they'd stick if I kept making faces!

Hoping all the best for BamaFamily!

BamaDad-
It seems that most of us on GC are just getting used to the new recruitment methods, and we don't fully understand the results we have seen coming in from other schools (like Georgia's quota additions.) Given that, I would recommend keeping things quiet until your daughter receives her bid tomorrow. She has gone through so much that there is nothing gained by lax restraint now. The important person is your daughter, not us addicts on GC.

BamaDaughter cried at all three houses. I'm not surprised....she even cried when Daddy said good-bye and sent her a thought-provoking letter afterwards. What a softy, huh?

On another subject, someone asked privately if I would continue to peek in on GreekChat. If you ladies don't mind, sure! I look upon GreekChat and sorority life as just one more activity of my daughter to follow. I've been there for nearly every field hockey or soccer game, crew regatta, award events, etc., since I started coaching her in elementary school. I've worked regattas and soccer fields alike just so I can stay involved with my daughters. Why should her sorority life be any different? It has been a genuine pleasure talking with you ladies. I have been so involved in the world of women via my daughters that I am extremely comfortable talking to members of the superior sex. You ladies rule, so I feel privileged to think that you don't mind listening to me.

I got the same type of letter from my dad the day they moved me into Auburn my freshman year. I still treasure it nearly 5 years later!

I'm the lucky one. Poor kids can't chose who their parents are, can they!
I try my best. Stay tuned.....
