They often have these length problems that seem so terrible to you -- by the time they cover the boobs, there's not enough left to cover the midriff! And suit jackets! And skirts, because they're often designed for women with "child bearing hips," and my hips ain't birthin' no child, thanks. So OMGWTF I have it worse than everybody! Larger girls can just wear mumus! OMG! And short girls can buy skirts and pull them up to their armpits and pass them off as dresses! See?! I'm so jealous! If I wear something fitted, I look like a porn star! And if I wear something baggy, it looks like a tent! OH NOES!

Nobody is as worked up about this as you are because the rest of us realize that we ALL HAVE PROBLEMS.
Short girls don't ONLY have problems with pants. I'm sick and tired of people thinking that. Short people are usually short all over. We don't ONLY have short legs. We have problems with shirts, jackets and skirts too because they're too darn long! You can't hem a shirt or jacket, can you? You just look like a 10 year old wearing Mommy's work clothes.

You can hem shirts and jackets. You must have the worst tailor in the world. I get all my suit jackets hemmed and taken in. It's like $15.

So you're basically saying that petite sizes don't really matter, and that we shouldn't be complaining that stores are cutting back. I have spoken with many short people, and they have said that they'd rather wear petites than regular sizes.

A hemmed suit jacket in a regular size still won't fit as well as an actual petite sized jacket.

It will if you also get it taken in. For the love of God, get a tailor and get over it. I don't know a single woman who has everything she tries on off the rack fit her perfectly.

Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

And before you start saying that I don't know what it's like to have a hard time finding clothes, I'm 5'1", have both hips, an ass, and big boobs. So yes, I do know. It just doesn't preoccupy my whole day and existance.

Maybe I should become a clothing designer and make clothes especially for shorter women. My models will also be under 5'5.

Knock yourself out, as least that would be a productive solution for you.

No one denies that petite women can have a hard time finding clothes. What we deny and think you're being a b!tch about is saying that you exclusively have it the worst when women everywhere have difficulty.

Why are you so insistent that you have it SO hard and are SO special?

And yes you can get shirts and stuff altered. Taller or longer torsoed people can't- WE CANNOT ADD MATERIAL.

Or us short people can wear really long tank tops and call them sheath dresses. I have a blouse that I just got from Old Navy, and it hits about mid-thigh, and my husband swears that it's supposed to be a dress. Men

As a few other people have said, almost ALL of us get the "short end of the stick" in one way or another. Try having large breasts and no hips -- entire categories of clothing are pretty much a no-go -- sheath dresses (in fact, MANY dresses don't work -- nothing's better than hanging out in the Anthropologie dressing room where you try on a cute little dress only to find that the bottom is too big and the top can't even zip), empire waists, any top or jacket that isn't fitted, strappy things that don't hide bra straps unless you enjoy the torture of strapless bras, Ann Taylor pants, etc. etc. etc.

I guess rather than being bitter about it, I find designers/stores/items that work and go with them. Nobody can wear everything out there. Oh well. Find what works and buy it. If you're teeny tiny, try vintage, which was designed for smaller bodies.
Excellent advice on finding what works, no matter what your figure issue is.
I am tall (5'9") and have very large hips/thighs and small-ish mammaries. My bottom often times pushes me into full-fashion, plus size, whatever. I pick and choose what I can tolerate from those lines (because trust, I loathe full elastic waists, high waists, tapering, all that isht)
MamaTrap is 5' tall and she has few issues. I do think, however, that department store petites are geared to mature women.

LOL Sorry, I know that wasn't supposed to be funny, but in the context of this thread...it was.

I think what people aren't seeing is that petite sizes, when available, are designed proportionately smaller. Usually buttons are smaller, stripes might be closer together, etc, etc...Short people would rather be able to buy things that proportionately fit them rather than buy something that is a "regular" size and then have to spend half+ of what they did purchasing the outfit in alterations. In any case, what's the point of buying the outfit if you have to cut it, shrink it and change the button sizes?

And as we've all been saying and things that don't get through to you is that we ALL have similar problems. These problems ARE NOT exclusive to petites. Some of us don't even HAVE the option of alterations. We would all like to be able to find things that fit and flatter us. It's hard to find good clothes that do that, for all of us.

Perhaps you should try to get on "What Not to Wear". Stacey and Clinton do an excellent job of showing people of all shapes and sizes how to find clothing for their particular body type.

I wish I could afford to tailor my clothes... tailored clothes look so much better on everyone. We're not all cut from the same mold, but the clothing is.

People would be a lot more sympathetic to your plight if you didn't keep saying that you had it the toughest.
