why would anyone have a problem with an organization that protects (or attempts to) our civil liberties? Granted I do believe that they sometimes take it to the extremes, but you also need the extremes to find the middle.
and now I sound like a bleeding-heart liberal. When in reality I am a very conservative person.

I think "some people" (one person) associates them strongly with one particular stereotypical affiliation with one religious group, as well as with one race-based hiring policy.
Just saying.

I get this "race-based hiring policy" but what is the "stereotypical affiliation with one religious group" part?

Hmm, very interesting retrospection.
I am neither a Conservative or a Liberal. I am both!
But since I am Anti ACLU, I sight two major Points, Thought shall not correct Children. Teachers or Parents.
Thou shall not have Church and State.
Damn, the Supreme Court even waifted on this one!
Can Some on GC evoke some of the Great Things that THE ACLU DID?
I am more than willing to listen and discuss!

Amen. I tend to be more liberal (which is actually conservative in other parts of the country), and I don't agree with the ACLU on some points. But you gotta have those crazy far-left/righters to figure out how far you'll stretch your own beliefs.

I think I'd take the ACLU more seriously when they start to take an equal amount of "conservative" causes as "liberal" causes - such as last year's suit to allow a teacher's aide to wear a cross. IMHO, they shot themselves in the foot by NOT taking such a case!

Dang, More Anti ACLU Converts!
I am not a lone voice in the dessert!
Other than really being pissed off about the Not going to rain to a deluge and the Sat Dish Not working, Lightening and Thunder, I am all right!
In my opinon, and Mine only The ACLU has done more to Harm Mine/Our Country trying to show Their Power instead of trying to do right!
Their right seems to go against what the People think.
I just friggin Love Lawyers!
Get a real Job, work for a living!

My Flag is Back Up. Just cannot leave it not Fluttering in the Breeze!
Some Home Owners Association gave a Neighbor Hell for having so many USA Flags up. Hurts their Property, and how in the hell is that?
The Real Star Spangled Banner, Banner has had Millions placed in it to restore it and have it placed back in the Smithsonian.
In the words, This Is The Flag that Is The Symbol of USA!

We had a case like that in a suburb of Detroit shortly after 9/11, but the guy had over 1000 flags on his lawn/house/property.
However, there's a more recent case in Tennessee and his doesn't look that obnoxious to me:
too many flags
Dee
another one, in North Carolina

Eh, I think having so many flags like that looks really tacky.
If you live in a snotty little subdivision, you have to deal with a certain level of conformity to keep the neighbors happy.
