why are we persecuting tau alumna for her viewpoints/opinions?

i thought that was one of the much touted benefits of western society: we're supposed to all be so free, and open minded and modern, that people could hold original, varying beliefs (AND NOT JUST PARROT THE MINDSET THAT'S CURRENTLY IN VOGUE), state their opinions, and rest assured that they won't get brow-beaten or ridiculed...hmmm--what happened here?

tau alumna, i may not agree with your beliefs, but i respect your right to voice your opinion, because that is how you feel--and i also respect you for having the GUMPTION and COURAGE to express it.

if this is how you feel, so be it--it doesn't bother me in the least--i'm still the same person i was when i read it...

i have my views as well, and i would expect you to extend the same respect for mine...at least that is what my idea of "free speech" is all about.
I think it's fine for her to express the opinion that she'd like to move to another country in order to get away from the politics of the one she's in, although I personally doubt she means it. However, I think what most people were objecting to was the correlation of liberal with "having no values," which is both incorrect and verging on an attack.

thanks much, and i'd defend her right to say WHATEVER SHE WANTS TO ABOUT THE USA AS WELL--just like i can say whatever i want about it...

tell me--is bashing tau alumna's views going to change her mind, is she going to suddenly repent? cry and promise not to ever say anything that the GROUP didn't agree with? i certainly hope not...one should NEVER cave in to conformity and peer pressure ::::mist of irony::::

it's HER opinion, and she's entitled to it. as long as she doesn't go out and perform any negative actions related to her opinion upon any human beings...she's just throwing her words into the wind...like we all do on a daily basis...not a problem

I think you're taking about Eric McCormack who plays Will. He has a wife and child.
Eric McCormack is straight, but I just wanted to put in that "having a wife and child" does not a person straight make.
My orthodontist came out in his 50s. Wife and kids? You betcha.

I hadn't thought about it like that. All I have to do is look at the recently resigned Gov. McGreevy of NJ and his lovely wife and children to see this also.

I guess I should have typed: "Eric McCormack is straight." Not that there's anything wrong with it.

I think Eric McCormack is straight. But I heard Sean is gay.

The only reason Steven Cojocaru is listed as debated is b/c the gays don't want to claim him. The man looks like an alien. It's scary.

I never knew that Tony Geary was questionable. That puts a whole new spin on "Luke & Laura".

I'd be interested to hear how you think that these aren't traditional values.
I don't want to get into the whole Liberal debate...because while they do value our universal health care system, I have to agree with Taualumna that the Liberals (NOT liberals) are not good for this country. ETA: But it's not because they want to turn this country into the Netherlands.

I absolutely respect your opinions on it. The thing I took offense to was the blanket statement that liberal = no morals.

I understand and I completely agree...I didn't like the whole blanket statement either. Hell I'm liberal myself (but NOT a Liberal )

Yes, we would gladly welcome her to Texas, but only if you left for Canada. They need more socialists like you.

What about Velma from "Scooby Doo"??? I mean really...that turtleneck sweater screams "alternative lifestyle!! Does she also wear Birkenstocks and go to Lillith Fair??? Maybe she plays a little K.D. Lang or Melissa Etheridge or Tracy Chapman???

Peppermint Patty and Marcie-definitely a "butch-femme" thing going on there!

Schroeder from "Peanuts"??? Can he BE any Gayer??? I mean, Lucy is practically begging him, and he ignores her!!!

The point is...WHY DO PEOPLE CARE??? I just find it so amazing that so many people in this country want to know about another person's sex life, but will not let them have the same freedoms that they enjoy! What this list actually shows is that homosexuality transcends all social, ethnic, religious, and any other boundary that you can name. I could care less where Rick Mercer sticks "Little Ricky"-If I lived in Canada all I would care about is if he was doing a good job. If not-defeat his butt, no matter if he is Gay, Bi, Trans, Questioning or whatever!!

***stepping off of soapbox now***
