This Real World is so focused on race, sex, and gender---I guess that's how the "real world" is, though. I think that Nicole prides herself with being from the ghetto and in her mind, that's what true blackness is. News to Nicole: you are NOT the epitome of blackness...mmmkay?
I think Coral is a biatche...she erks me b/c she's trying TOO HARD to keep it real. It's almost as if she has an MTV camera attached to her backside...she's on EVERY episode showing her ignant (yes ignant) self. She makes black women seem as if we're inherently difficult to get along with and bitchy.
I didn't see the last episode involving Malik and the non-black women. But, I will say that this Real World is TOO deep...everything's an issue. I haven't really seen them have FUN.... I am waiting for someone to just come to blows and fight out all the agression, so we can get to the real interesting stuff.

I think that Nicole contradicted herself at every turn. I was ready to agree with her on SOME things... like whatever she and Malik discuss is THEIR business. But THEN she turned around and told all of her biz to Coral!
I also don't think it was Kevin's place to say anything about it (like someone else said, even Coral stayed pretty quiet!), but most of his arguments were very valid. And even though a lot of the stuff he said was true Nicole, I guess, didn't feel like his opinion had any merit b/c he is white.
My take on it is that Nicole needs to realize that her beliefs and points of view are just that: HERS! Malik, Kevin, and everyone all have different perspectives and feelings about things and she needs to respect that. She doesn't have to agree with it, just acknowledge it and move on. Like sphinxpoet said, don't try to mold someone to fit your own ideals.
This is getting long so I just wanna say that when Coral and Nicole DO have their argument about whatever, Coral is gonna chew Nicole up and spit her out. Say what you want about Coral, but she articulates her ideas and arguments (whether they are relevant or not), while Nicole resorts to shouting, threatening, and immaturity. Nicole even said that she envies the way Coral handles herself in an argument.
Also Coral herself said that arguing (read: picking on Mike) is like competing, and you feel good about yourself when you get the one-up...so she has obviously had lots of practice!
Okay, one last thing...I am surprised no one mentioned Nicole's confessional when she admitted that she had a responsibility on the show (being to carry herself in a way that would discount any perceptions or generalizations we made about her before the show), and instead of fulfilling it, she turned around and personafied the "angry black woman" stereotype. Then she started to cry and I think she was saying that that disappointed her.

And can someone please tell me why, in this day and age of straight up wackos...these Real World folx are always bringing someone home? (It happens in every season)
Finally, when are Nicole and Coral gonna have it out?

I think Nicole needs to understand that just because someone is Black, does not mean the that person will think like she does, feel the same way or share her views.
In my opinion, I really think she has a little sumin' sumin' for Malik...which is why she was so "hurt" by everything. She needs to bring it down a few notches...I thought all of that, "I don't have to say anything to you for the next 6 months", was a little immature. Then again, she was so worked up...that she probably didn't mean it.
As for Coral...she makes me ill. She claims to be so "cultured" and all over Malik because he dates "outside of his race", but she was the MAIN one having a little something going on with a white guy during the Casting special. Can we say Hypocrite?!?!?!
Peace yall...

uuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!! i was so mad after last night's episode of rw. nicole is the biggest hypocrite. after blasting malik for discussing 'black folks bizness' with his white friend, she goes back and discusses it with her girl coral. it is quite obvious also that she has some serious self-hate issues going on. it was also cool that kevin conducted himself like a gentleman and didn't stoop to the shouting and pointing level that nicole was dishing out. i do however have to agree with her with regards to her issues with malik wearing that marcus garvey shirt.
i am in definite agreement with most of the folks here about coral. she is nothing but a little bully and is totally ignorant. i am not saying that some of her statements to mike weren't incorrect (ie panty droppers) but she should have kept her comments to herself when they came over. the chick is so damn frigid. even the dudes that came back to the house with malik, mike and kevin weren't feeling her. in all actuality the guys weren't feeling any of the females. they seem so standoffish!!!! ok i have vented a little for now....lol .

Nicole - She needs to realize that she cannot impose her definition of "blackness" (what ever that is) on Malik. And she cannot control who Malik chooses to confide in. It is clear that whenever someone does not measure up to Nicole's expectations, she wants nothing more to do with them. Another example would be when Nicole found out that her date was a Republican and voted for Bush. That date was over before HE knew it. I don't think that Malik said or did anything so offensive that she would have to squash their potential friendship. Maybe Malik is not the type of man she wants to become romantically involved in, but to tell Malik "I don't like you anymore" and "I don't respect you" -- those were pretty strong words. She is the one that concocted the preconceived notions about Malik based on his appearance (and it is obvious how she obsesses over appearance).
And did she carry-on something awful w/ Kevin or what. You just don't put your fingers in someone's face. That is SO confrontational. But Nicole knows who to try that with, because she knows that type of behavior warrants a beat-down in certain circles. And this is the same person that told Malik not to wave his hand in a certain way (while speaking to her) because it was disrespectful.
Coral - Why did she feel the need to chime in with Nicole about Malik's "blackness?" And yes, during the casting special, it was Coral romping in the bathroom w/ a caucasian guy (even though she probably did it to get on the show). Now, if someone were to insinuate that she was not the African-American woman she claims to be, she would go ballistic. Coral was awfully quiet when Nicole went off on Kevin -- that's a switch. And why did she flip Malik's guest the bird?
Malik - He is one mellow brother. I don't know how he could take the angry duo tag-teaming him like that. I am so glad he did not stoop to their level. When Nicole finished a sentence, Coral picked up where Nicole left off. Malik's head flipped back and forth as if he was watching a tennis match. It's funny how Nicole wanted Malik to not talk about "their" business w/ others, but she could scream him out about his "blackness" when some of the other housemates were at home. Now, it would have been too funny if Malik turned to Nicole and Coral and said, this is the reason why I haven't settled down with a sister yet.
Kevin - He told Lori that he wasn't going to say anything and he should have done just that. I believe Kevin knew exactly what the reaction would be if he did say something. I can see how Nicole may have thought it was none of Kevin's business, because it really was not his business. But, she still didn't have to conduct herself in that manner -- that was just ridiculous. Kevin didn't disrespect her, he merely stated his unsolicited opinion. Unfortunately, Nicole took the conversation (if you can call it that) to another level. I am glad Kevin walked away from her.

For the record:
I like Coral.
She reminds me of myself. I understand that many people tend to classify this type of personality under the word B$%CH.
That's fine. People like us are strong enough to handle the opinions of others.
And guess what,
We really don't care what other people think anyway

I don't think I've posted in your forum before. I bring you much Greek Love.

Hey soror,
I don't know if you want to associate your personality with Coral's just yet I think she's more of an actress than anything else. I know many folks think of me as biatchy, but, Coral acts like she's going for an Emmy, or something. She's one of those overly critical types, but she can't take the heat as much as she dishes it. She gets real defensive by others' criticisms, but expects people to welcome her criticisms of them.
OOO-OOP Soror!

But, isn't this how it usually is? If you notice that on most of the Real Worlds (regardless of the season), the white people (especially white men) are depicted as relatively calm and cool and seem to avoid confrontation. However, the black people are much more confrontation and are easily excitable. If you think back to Real World seasons past...we are often depicted as people that operate based on emotion, rather than rationale and logic. I am waiting for a healthy display of anger from a black person on one of these Real Worlds...all this rantin' and ravin' and carryin' on

But look at the people they choose for these roles. The black people the usually get have issues with their past or are confrontational and let that be known from Jump. Actually Malik and Mohammed(San Fransico) are the two most calm ones they have ever had on teh Real World. Can I ask a question, since Kevin(RW 1) how many of the Black Guys on real world have dated or messed around with white or non black women?
hmmmmmm....
