I do agree that as Christians, we need to educate each other about all of the topics you mentioned. Yet, I believe that the Pastor's ultimate purpose is to save souls by teaching the Bible. Emphasis needs to be placed on living right as a Christian, sin, faith, etc. The components that you mention fit into having different ministries in the church. I don't think the Pastor should have to preach about this because the true message is about Jesus dying for our sins, not economic, political, and social development. Personal opinion.

Wow! THis is by far the most thought provoking thread I have come across on GC. The discussion is great!
I just wanted to say that I agree with you Delph998 about the Pastor's ultimate purpose being to save souls. I really have a problem with people pushing their political agendas from the pulpit. There are so many issues within our community that need to be discussed and teached on. And I said TEACHED not PREACHED...cause a lot of folx go to church and get a bunch of hooping and hollering...but don't have the ability to apply THE WORD to their life because they weren't taught.
I am so thankful for the church that I go to because we have so many ministries and we are under the leadership of an obedient and passionate man of God... Bishop Daniel Robertson Jr. Pastor of Mt. Gilead Full Gospel Int'l Ministries.. and I really had to check my priorities cause I was working harder for other organizations than I was in the church...
And also, SPHINXPOET, I am not sure if I didnt see your response to someone else's post about speaking in tongues.. but do you not see this as something GOd wants us to do? I am just curious of your rationale. Please PM me if you feel the discussion would be redundant in this forum.
I know my post is talking about like 6 different things...but I was just a little to happy when I saw this thread
