I know some people will get offended by this, and I'm sorry, but it has to be said.

It's just an ad.

I understand how someone might take this in the wrong light, like many people have. But personally, I thought the ad was funny. And I thought it was funny because I didn't get offended, because I know that my sorority does nothing of this sort.

If you get this easily angered over an ad... Then how are you going to deal with things later in life, that are a lot more significant?

This was not directed at any one individual, but more to everyone; look at the whole picture, not just what's in front of you.

Sincerely~Beth

I remember the 1993 "Snapple is part of the Klan" conspiracy (people saw the K in the circle and didn't realize it meant Kosher). It was too good for me to boycott then and it's too good for me to boycott now!

I thought it was damned funny. It's JUST AN AD! It doesn't even show real people! It's not as if the bottles were painted in blackface and dressed like Michael Jackson...they were ICED TEA BOTTLES! Chill pills, anyone?

This made me laugh:
"Now, out-for-the-bucks Snapple and their not-so-creative agency Deutsch have a print and billboard poster called "FRAT" depicting two bottles with hair and Delta Omega Delta ball caps looking smug over a prostate pledge. A broken paddle sits nearby and other paddles, all with Greek letters, fill out the picture."

HOW DOES A SNAPPLE BOTTLE LOOK "SMUG"?

hate to say this but..

It's just an ad people! I thought it was kind of funny as well.

Products everywhere and people everywhere will stereotype... are you just going to boycott all those products and people? They don't know any better, and their ignorance shows...

But anyway, I just see it as an advertisement... ::shrugs::

So, just wondering, but what ended up happening with Snapple? Did they pull the ad or what?

I did! And I think we should start a letter-writing campaign to boycott Subway! Don't they know that our house cooks make us nutritional meals?? I mean, to insinuate that we are poorly fed and are in need of Jared and his propaganda... it's, well, an outrage!

Okay, so I'm joking. Cool off, people. It's great to have principles... free speech and all that... but lighten up! If you wrote a letter to Snapple: I'm very happy that you expressed your dislike for the ad. I, too, am happy to voice my opinions when offended.

But stop beating people over the head, TriSigmaTX. Your constant need to reiterate how many PMs you've received in support and mentioning of your masters thesis is getting on my nerves! I too have been a national volunteer, spoken to chapters about the dangers of hazing, etc., so don't even begin to quiz me on my convictions. Any by the way, ANSWER THE QUESTION: how many paddling deaths *have* there been??

So go ahead -- start jumping on me now.

SOrry y'all, I ddn't mean to open up new debate, I was just wondering what the final outcome was. If y'all want to debate it though go ahead.

I think the hair-bottle campaign as a whole is over - at least I haven't seen any of the ads in a whille.

Interesting comment, "beating people over the head", boy you don't know me do you?

Anyway....the letter writing campaign apparently did work, the ads have disappeared (whether we did that as Greeks or not, who cares....but it worked).

How many? Too many...the actual total is impossible to count since the US has only started tracking these deaths since 1999. But for your information since 1999 there have been approximately 90 deaths.

90! Can you imagine.....I'm sure some people on Greek Tracker know these people.

That's enough, I stayed off of here for almost a year because of people being bitter and not having intelligent debates. So, there's the number you've been wanting. Why do you want/need a number? And if you need me to back anything up, look up Hank Nuwer. He's amazing.
