Pers and Spec

When I pledged a Pers (or personal) was a big sister that had the same line number that you had while you were on line - it wasn't necessarily a good thing, especially if the grad chapter was around because you could have any number of Pers' - while a Spec (or Special) was the Big Sister assigned to you about mid-way through the pledge process to the end.

At last...

At last....2 people on the board who know what I'm talking about when I say 'pers' and 'ships'

Differences are wonderful......however, I do beleive we need some unity in our camps

BTW -- I didn't know the word Diva was associated with DST. Learn something new every day.

QTE
That is interesting because this chant is part of a Zeta step and has been a Zeta step for YEARS...long, long before I even made it grade school...I had to joke with an SGRho friend about their representative using that phrase for the BET 106 and Park step-off....

Some other things that make me think of Zeta are:

Cat, Kitten, Kitty
Dove
Epitome of Finer Womanhood
Finer Women

It seems as though this thread has turned into a whole new direction. But, I'm going to regress slightly.

To the AKA who said someting about Ethel's kids etc. We have 2 Founders named Ethel.

To the SGRhos, we also use the number 22, since we have 22 Founders. So you will see that a lot too in Delta handles.

It's so funny to me how orgs. share things.

Pearls--mostly everyone has pearls
1911/11 K A Psi and Omegas etc.

but anyway, let's go to the stereotypes:
Alphas:
ape(s), black, gold, ice, '06, Phirst (or anything with PH)

AKAs:
pretty, ivy, pink, green, '08, First (or Phirst), pearls

Kappas:
pretty, diamond(s), 11, 1911, spell with K vs. C (i.e., Karnation)

Omegas:
Dawg, bruh, blood, thunder, purple, 11, 1911, gold, roo, Que

Deltas:
elephant, duck, red, crimson, 13, 1913, 22, diva, anything with DS and T capitolized (i.e., DevaSTating)

Deltas don't have any specific song, we just run the floor ALL NIGHT! And we call it strolling. However, a close second must go to My GIRRRRRRRRRLZ of Z Phi B, they know they are crunk all night too. But when we kick that unity stroll (DST and Z Phi B) we can't be stopped! Red White and Blue love!!!!

I thought it was Edna....

Greek Sister DST _Philoso4:

I thought her name was Edna not Ethel that was married to Frank....a lot of my friends are Deltas (and my sister...) and they always say Ednas and Franks.

But you do have a founder name Ethel...

Thanks...learned something new....

TTT

I know things are constantly changing and wondered if there are new terms associated with our orgs. Or songs.

And as I read thru the thread, I noticed that no one associated More Bounce to the Alphas. How come? Am I tellin' my age? Cuz I thought that was THE Alpha song. And I never knew sororities had songs.

So, undergrads, enlighten us older folk.

Soror I'm not undergrad but I'm new (8months old in AKA). "Pistol Grip Pump" is an Alpha song and Sorors (from a day old to Silver Star Sorors) will run you over when "Scarred" comes on.

Texas Sorors can I get a witness?

Hmmm... I think any song with any thing that even remotely correlates to an organization gets snatched up and used for a party walk/ stroll (here at Howard we say both).

For example, the Snoop and Pharell hit "Drop It Like It's Hot" is associated with the Deltas because Snoop sings/stretches him name out in the background, and it sounds just like the Delta call.

The AKAs love "Stilettos (Pumps)" by Crime Mobb because the Stiletto aspect.

The Alphas like "Cold as Ice" by MOP.

If we had Kappas they're probably stroll to "Diamonds are Forever" by Kanye West...

No one really strolls to old songs because that's not what gets played in the clubs. It seems like everyone has about 3-5 base strolls that have been handed down for a few generations, song-specific strolls that only go to a specific songs, and a few new strolls thrown into rotation to break up the monotany.

I think 'Set it Off' is a South Atlantic Region thing because everybody knows to clear the floor when it comes on.

My party walk, stroll, strutting (whatever you wanna call it) days are over (to a certain extent)! Nearly 15 years ago, when I was a neo, we didn't do ANYTHING remotely associated with the sorority IN.A.CLUB!
