I agree with some and not with others. I don't see a problem with Sigma and Alpha having a day together or even a week. From a younger person's perspective that may seem wierd, but end the end that is what it is all about. We are BLACK. Face it. Lastly, to the soror who disrespected the Zeta's and SGRho's don't do that. That doesn't solve anything. They are doing their thing and uplifting black people like everyone else. Show love.

what interests me, is the alpha who started this forum wrote as if the sigmas "talked" the undergrad chapter into having this joing venture, well obviously, it wasnt hard for them to do it and the undergrad chapter wanted it to happen or else it wouldnt have happened...
if you have a problem with, talk to your undergrad chapter, and work that out internally....
As far as, the first alumni/membership and the que joint meeting...
These are historical facts...i cant change what you learn or dont learn, or the wrong info that people feed you...im not going to debate that, but dont get on here and try to de-value someelse history by saying its not true.....

don't know about the 1st Alum Chapter thing but
1st, thanks for the knowledge as well as the intellectual tone that’s continued to passed on from post to post on the “Non Traditional Party Alliances” thread.
I was just posting what I found out as I found it out from my own information search. The beautiful thing about history, when it pertains to events that have documentation (as opposed to urban Greek legends), is that, with a little digging, you can find what you’re looking for.
The 1921 meeting between Phi Beta Sigma and Omega Psi Phi isn’t listed in our “general Overview” of our Conclave minutes of each conclave because general business for each org was handled separately.
But, it clearly states in our 1st history book that the meeting did happen.
For the Bruhs... these accounts are in your “Dreer” page 145-146.
1921 Clave was in Atl
1922 Clave was in Philly
The account reads like this.. On Feb 7th, 1914, Brother J. Gordon Dingle (Alpha Chapter-O.P.P.) suggested that advantages could be realized from an Inter-Fraternal Council, operating with a united attack upon social & economical problems of the Negro.
the Next effort would take place on Feb 24, 1914.. when Bro. L. H. Brown suggested a plan for forming an inter-fraternal committee that would be composed of representatives of all the Fraternities at Howard, the object of which would be to regulate, at the University all matters of importance to Fraternities.
On March 7th, 1914.. Alpha chapter of Omega instructed the Inter-fraternal Committee to send circular letters to all HU Frats requesting each org. to have a representative for the Inter-Fraternal Council...
for the sake of not writing a book.. I’ll just say here that efforts to have the IFC for the next eight years was postponed..
IN DECEMBER OF 1921, THE INTER-FRATERNAL IDEA MOVED FORWARD AS A RESULT OF A JOINT MEETING BETWEEN OMEGA PSI PHI AND PHI BETA SIGMA.
After 8 years of effort, the 1st National Inter-Fraternal Conference assembled in DC from April 17th - 19th, 1922.
Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta, Alpha Kappa Alpha and Zeta Phi Beta were all at these meetings with at least one National officer as a delegate.
Once again.. my Greek Brothers and Sisters.. I think now we can bring closure to this thread. The Blue Ice Week was the impidous for me to post to see what we all thought of Non Traditional Greek Alliances for party Purposes (once again, we’ve always worked together for service and social change). The general consensus is that...
a) It may look weird (weird as in different) but, to each his own. (my stance)
b) It’s purely a business decision for each org. and nothing more or less..
c) It breaks down more trivial barriers and seperative walls that we, as NPHC Greeks, put up..

First of all let me encourage you to re-read the original post on this topic. The brother who started it IS NOT AN ALPHA! He is a QUE. Secondly, He isn't implying any social discrimination, he is merely stating that it is weird to see the different alliances that have come about through greek unity. Some chapters have traditional ideas concerning joint greek events. Others see them as purely business efforts. Although I do agree with you about letting the current undergrad members of the chapter handle their own business. Unfortunatley there are many who hear different rumors about other orgs and run with it. But through all of this we learn that even though we are of different orgs, we are all still fighting the same fight.

Re: don't know about the 1st Alum Chapter thing but
Wonderfully responded to, Bruh!
And it shows the importance of not just reciting back what you have heard, or been told or see as a trivia fact on a website. To describe this simply as a joint national convention is an inaccurate description of what reportedly took place and creates confusion. The best way to make your point or challenge someone else's is to look for a source and back it up!
