Chi Phi Fraternity was founded at the College Of New Jersey (now Princeton) on December 24th, 1824.
The Alpha Chapter (which is designated as the Alpha-Sigma Chapter...its a long story) still exists at Princeton. However, it underwent a period of inactivity because, at one point in time, the university actually BANNED secret societies!
We celebrated our 175th birthday in 1999, and as of now, we are currently going into our 178th year!
My chapter, Iota Delta, was founded November 15th, 1958. We are going into our 42nd year. We are relatively young compared to other Chi Phi chapters.

Sigma Alpha Iota was founded at the University School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan in June of 1903. Just recently, we found out this was the formal name of the music school, not just "University of Michigan" like we used to say. My alumnae chapter is the oldest one, founded in 1915!

on may 15th, adpi will be celebrating our 151st year of existence... first, finest, forever!
first named the adelphean society, adpi was the first secret society for women founded at the first college for women, wesleyan female college in macon, georgia.
i love to read from our history books, loyally, and at our 150th anniversary convention, our international council debuted the book sisters, which is a gorgeous book with TONS of great pictures from the past 150 years.
also founded at wesleyan female college was phi mu, first as the philomathean society.... congrats on 150 wonderful years, phi mu!
i believe phi psi, who we have on our campus is also celebrating 150 years...
my chapter of adpi will be celebrating 20 years on our campus next april 15th...

That is absolutely true. Alpha chapter had to officially shut down for a while, I believe it was because Monmouth outlawed GLO's. That rule was later overturned and Alpha was reestablished. As with all other chapters that have shut down and returned, it is referred to with a Deuteron after the chapter name (like Stanford, which is Beta Eta Deuteron).
Kappa's rank historically: 5
1: Adelphean Society, now ADPi
2: Philomanthen Society, now Phi Mu
3: I.C. Sorosis, now Pi Beta Phi
4: Kappa Alpha Theta
5: Kappa Kappa Gamma

It is shocking to me that none of my Sigma Kappa sisters have posted here yet!!! Anywho....
Sigma Kappa was founded November 9, 1874 at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Our oldest exisiting chapter is Delta Chapter at Boston University. Our first three chapters, Alpha, Beta and Gamma (which were all located at Colby) folded when Colby disbanded the Greek system.
Cal State Long Beach, Gamma Theta was founded in November of 1955.

Theta Phi Alpha
Theta Phi Alpha was founded in 1912 at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
Many people have never heard of TPA because we do not have
many chapters. It was originally founded because Catholics were not allowed in other sororities. But today is not a Catholic sorority.
The Alpha Sigma Chapter was founded in 1985 here at California University of Pennsylvania.

Pi Beta Phi
Pi Beta Phi was originally established as I.C Sorosis at Monmouth College in 1867, it was the first secret society of women model after the fraternities for men. I.C Sorosis later adopted the name Pi Beta Phi in 1888.
My chapter of Pi Beta Phi was started in 1996 at the University of Guelph. It was originally a local sorority, Delta Sigma Chi, that was started in 1992.

Alpha Epsilon Phi was founded on October 24, 1909 at Barnard. The Alpha chapter no longer exists, since Barnard effectively destroyed its greek system a few years later - but by that time there were other chapters.
My chapter, Beta Epsilon, was chartered in 1995.
