I know it is physically impossible with the size of "the hammer head" and an eye orbit so my mind immediately replaced with a narwhal but those only live in the Arctic and he was buried in the Indian Ocean. So then I went with being manhandled by a manatee.

Well I do think that killing him in the moment was probably the more humane thing to do. I imagine there are lots and lots of folks in the military that would like to have some "words" with him.

But realistically, this was never an option (well, not in the most general sense) - taking him alive would have resulted in incarceration, interrogation, and eventual trial, very similar to Saddam Hussein.
Any abuse, "enhanced interrogation," or anything similar just wouldn't fly - what a nightmare that would be, and on an international stage.
Operational guidelines may have made it impossible to take him alive - after all, according to most interpretations of "Enemy Combatant" status, he would have to wrap himself in a white flag - and I understand why that's somewhat unsatisfactory for some, but it seems to be the reality of rules of combat. After all, dudes who are flying covert operations aren't exactly expected to count to three.

I don't think you send Seal Team 6 halfway across the world to "arrest" someone.
as has been said, people are going grapple with themselves about how they feel about this military action.
It's just like when capital punishment is applied, and someone comes out and says "this was done in the name of the people of ________." Well, if you're not down with capital punishment then you most certainly don't feel the action was done on your behalf.
