Not sure but I've heard that there are twice as many record labels and higher concert revenues today than there were 20 years ago. It's not the music industry thats hurting, it's the 5 record labels that 20 years ago controlled 90% of the industry and made billions that are the ones hurting.
Stop making assumptions about me and the music I listen to and what I do or do not do when looking for new music based on ONE paragraph.

I don't have to make assumptions, you stated yourself that Rihanna is "fierce" and that you adore Lady Gaga.

There's plenty good/new out there. You just don't hear much of it when radio plays (I kid you not) the same 20 songs all day long.

Oh c'mon... Santogold songs are in beer commercials. Her music is similar to MIA's...she's great but nothing new.

So NO ONE knows ANYTHING about music but, PIKA2001 and also he is the only one allowed to determine or debate what is good. Yes... let's not share opinions when he can just dictate what all of us should individually enjoy.

LOL

There's no need to get all butt-hurt over it. Just because YOU think that there isn't anything NEW or GOOD out there (other than GAGA) doesn't mean others feel the same way.

That's all I'm saying...

You were already told that her point wasn't that there isn't any NEW or GOOD music out there. She was saying that the music industry is just like the rest of the world, it operates in patterns. When we talk about people sounding like other artists, that's something that has happened with every generation in music.

Now, you and BabyPINKFL need to save this snarky back-and-forth for a more funererererer topic.

^^^Dr. Phil to be honest that wasn't a direct response to him but more as a joke to share with everyone else. He keeps ASSuming things based one sentences that are unrelated. Like that I think Rihanna's music is fierce (I said her style was NOT her music) and that all I listen to is Lady Gaga. He keeps making sweeping assumptions and yes that is annoying, but my last comment was pretty much to everyone else and not him. He's music Buddha in his own mind, and that's just fine with me.

Now you are the one ASSuming.

I'm just saying that the claim that there's no new bands making the scene so Lady Gaga or Katy Perry is all we have, is false.

The examples I posted are very mainstream acts, but are yet not played on the radio. I'm just trying to show that there are other options.

I'm not sure what you guys are looking for in NEW. Do you want someone to invent a new instrument or something?
I definitely hear Vampire Weekend on the radio a lot.

Sorry to double post:
I often sing my region's name instead of California. And Sunshine Coast instead of Golden Coast. I have a feeling tons of parodies and local takes will be arising out of that song so keep your ears open on local morning talk shows.
