If he's legal, I'd hit. If not, you never saw anything here.

Second ep -- I really wish they wouldn't be so stereotypical in their depiction of urban black kids.

Sidenote: At my old job, some of the Americorps tutors/teachers were taught to say "1-2-3, all eyes on me"

When I took the job, I laughed at that junk and told my staff to use whatever means worked.

I even stood by one of my employees who told a kid to shut up. His mother was like "So that's supposed to be okay?" I was like "lady, your son is a bad @$$ 11 year old, what was she supposed to do? Take him out of my program and into a basketball camp."

She did.

William's a good one to take a 16 year old unlicensed driver out in his BMW. Dumb, but good. He would have been driving Maya's car.

I didn't like the stereotypical classroom stuff either.

The stereotypical classroom stuff was a little overkill, but ass a substitute teacher I have seen it many times before, but tht is another thread.

Is it just me or are they putting ads in the show? I mean they were pubbing Allstate really hard.

Shyyytttttt, as a veteran educator, I've seen it SEVERAL TIMES, with subs and fully credentialed teachers. The only thing that was overkill was the actual throwing of the paper. Classroom management for some teachers/subs...what is that?

However, the scenes were unrealistic. Joan would have been in jail. Maya (what are you going in there for?) would have been in jail. It was just horrible. I have to watch the entire show for both episodes. The class scene was the only thing that got my attention. (smh)

Right, you just can't walk into a classroom unauthorized like that.

I've seen some unruly classes as well in my day, but that was way over the top last night.

Supposly, last night's episodes were suppose to be the last ones. I've never been a fan of the show, but after eight years it does deserve a final show. Young Black and Fabulous is encourging people to write to CW so to at least get a final show.

ETA: There were also plans to bring Toni back for the final show.

FYI...

The source is so adamant about readers, watchers, and fans demanding that this show get its proper due, they sent over the DIRECT contact info for the offices of head execs in charge. They made clear that the general contacts likely won’t get the message to them. To write or call DIRECTLY to the people who matter in order to express your disappointment and desire to have another season (or at least a proper finale):

I too agree that the show deserves a proper finale. I was ready for the show to be cancelled this season because it's getting silly nowadays. However, to just end it on a WHIM, after EIGHT years, is disrespectful to everyone involved in the show, as well as the fans. I plan to write a letter on behalf of the show.

My gripe with the creator is that she seemed to have just been keeping the show going in an attempt to beat Cosby's record as longest running.

Note to Ms. Akil: Girlfriends is NOT the Cosby Show! In fact, you aren't even in the game arena as the Cosby Show. How about you aren't even on the same PLANET as the Cosby Show. Let. It. Go!

This show went to the dogs a long time ago. People are trying to claim that it went downhill when Jill Marie Jones left the show when, in fact, it was crappy a long time before. Joan becoming an "it" girl, Maya becoming an "authoress," Toni being a single mom and that whole divorce/alleged cheating drama, Lynn being Lynn, William trying to cover up the fact that he's gay (I don't care what anyone says, that man is gay!)

The show has run its course.

I just wonder how 'good' will the finale be since the show has been kinda jacked for a while.

Update:

http://www.blackvoices.com/blogs/200...k-sitcom/#cont

Scroll to the bottom for the update. Wow. Tom Joyner better get on it...he was one of the big ones who got Living Single to do some final episodes.

And Family Matters is the longest running Black sitcom. Urkel was around for a minute.

They are saying that they won't get a final show because they don't have writers to write it due to the strike.

Technically, The Cosby Show was on longer than Family Matters if we look at continuity. Family Matters was cancelled when it was on ABC, but was later picked up by CBS. The Cosby Show had a straight run.
