No, I didn't think you were making light This is so unusual for us to have this much rain! We normally get maybe 3 or 4 days in a summer of rain and then suffer through the heat. But the ground is so saturated right now that we've had flooding in places where it doesn't ever flood. A couple of neighborhoods were evacuated day before yesterday and I felt awful for the people they had on the news--many elderly people, family members helping to retrieve photos and mementos--and their home owner's insurance doesn't cover the flood damage.

Just spent a glorious 6 days at our ranch in Southwest Texas. Man I love that country.....spring fed lakes, mountains, grasslands.....little bit of everything.

I'm here, I'm here!!!

DFW is pretty cold right now, which isn't making me too happy since I'm missing my 60something degree weather that I left in SA...

I miss Texas. I grew up in Highland Park (a part of Dallas). I've since lived in California (Santa Cruz) and Chile (La Serena); I've lived in Connecticut for nine years.

I want to go home!!!

Ohhhh .. . how I miss Texas. Tex-Mex, the Hill Country, Alamo Drafthouse, Paper Bear in San Marcos, MFA-Houston, the train at Hermann Park, people pulling over on the shoulder to let you pass in east Texas, Pappadeux, . . . the list goes on and on.

I taught down in Ennis for a year. The first time someone did that, I was like Now, I think it's cool.

Vote for the new license plate!

Texas License Plate e-Vote

Over the last 30 years, designs for the state's general issue plate have ranged from a plain, white background to the flying Lone Star Flag.

In January of 2009, production of the next plate will begin. The public will have the opportunity to vote for one of four new designs or to keep the current plate.

For more information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions.

Voting Timeframe

Voting begins at noon on Monday, Feb. 4 and ends at noon on Monday, Feb. 11.

I like our current LP better than these new choices. To be honest they kinda suck.

I like the natural Texas - it has the state outline with the lone star, but then our beautiful bluebonnets.

Natural Texas looks good to me......all the others are kind of ugly in my opinion. I have a custom one though.

What are you having for breakfast thread few days ago made me think of Texas.
My favorite breakfast there was the breakfast tacos: flour tortilla, fried egg, little bit of cheddar cheese, bacon, salsa. OK, it's not healthy, but they're good. Cafe near courthouse, San Marcos, served them, for about a $1.50 each. Two was plenty.

Said it before: miss the Texas clouds. Here, they aren't the same.

I lived in Texas for over 10 years before moving to Ohio. I would move back in a second if the opportunity arose.

If only there was a way to have Pappasito's delivered to Ohio.....

I actually really liked the "lone star texas" license plate. We already have the My Texas, why would I wanna vote on that one? And the others are just kinda "blah"

I have a Texas A&M license plate and will not likely change no matter what new design is chosen.
