Girlfriends ~ Cancelled?

When the WB and UPN decided to merge into the CW, it must have occured to all of the actors and actresses of Girlfriends that they may not be back. Jill Marie Jones, who played Toni Childs, decided to leave regardless of which way the axe fell.

Of course the season finale of the show last week was probably a telling sign — in a moment of craziness, Joan (played by Ross) drank herself to death at a party and ended up missing a custody battle between Toni and her estranged husband Todd (Jason Pace). Although Toni won custody of her child Morgan, Joan felt that she had let down Toni and lost a friend forever. It was mentioned by one of the characters that all of their friendships had been growning apart — having seen the show over the years, this did come with a bit of truth.

For further confirmation, one needed to do no more than to look at the network's web pressence for the show.

Three out of the four girls (Persia White, Golden Brooks and Tracee-Ellis Ross) have their pictures up on the CW website and are mentioned as a threesome in the related show info.

Hopefully there will be further developments as to whether she will return to the series for guest appearances. But judging by the episode and the lack of Marie Jones' picture on the site, it seemed highly doubtful that would happen anytime soon.

I hope Toni comes back...she's the one I relate too the most...especially since she's had her lil girl...we were pregnant at the same time...except I didn't get rid of my hubby LOL

Fresh on the heels of the announcement that 'Girlfriends' would be picked up by the CW Network, Golden Brooks, who plays Maya on the show, shared her frustration the depiction of former pop sensation Whitney Houston on 'Being Bobby Brown.' According to New York Daily News columnist Lloyd Grove, Brooks told Steppin' Out magazine that she wished "Whitney Houston would stay off the tube and disappear in India."

Brooks shared her disdain for reality television and believes it has helped with the demise of Houston's career. "It's like a TV dinner. It disgusts me. It's cheap. I watched the Whitney Houston show, and I cried. It broke my heart. I always wanted to be like her when I grew up, and now I look at her, and it's so embarrassing. ... It's a horror movie."

Speaking of 'Girlfriends,' rumor has it that show star Jill Marie Jones (Toni), is planning not to return to the series. We don't know the reasons for her possible exit from the hit series, which will enter its seventh season when it returns on the CW this fall.

We broke news last week that Jones may be out when the show premieres on CW this fall. Now we hear that it was actually Jones' decision to leave the hit former UPN series. Despite her being absent from the CW Network's upfront rollout in New York City, and Jones' image and bio being removed from the 'Girlfriends' website, a rep for the network said nothing is finalized. "It remains to be seen," McGuire said.

Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks, Persia White and Reggie Hayes will return for the sitcom's unprecedented seventh season. Wouldn't it be nice to see a full-figured friend added to the 'Girlfriends' mix? Just asking…

Does anyone know the name of that song that was playing where Lynn and Tricky's character (Finn), was performing on stage for Lena and Darnell's wedding in the "Wedding on the Rocks" episode. The lyrics I heard are as follows...
