but does it look too old? My friend really liked this one:

Should I just go with black to be safe or could these be a better choice?

I don't know anything about your school personally, so I can't say whether black is best. Speaking as if you were attending pref at my school, I have to say I LOVE the second dress! I think both dresses are really pretty, and actually really like them both. But, the second dress really stands out and shows individuality. It would definitely draw interest at my chapter!

Good Luck with your Recruitment!!

You can never go wrong with black.... but I'll defer to someone else as to what would be the best choice for color. Out of the dresses you posted, in my opinion I like the first one better. I'm not a huge fan of the print on the second one.

The purple one is gorgeous. I'm pretty sure as long as you're not wearing a shawl or some frumpy dumpy getup you won't be considered too old - a cocktail dress is a cocktail dress and this is a time when you want to LOOK mature, anyway.

Personally, I think both of the dresses in the links are gorgeous and would be appropriate. The seafoam green one is a similar style to the dress I'm wearing for pref night (except it's black).

Now I am also a pnm so my advice may not be as helpful to you, however, I do know a few greek women at Texas State and they have told me that the greek system there is much more relaxed than it is at most schools in Texas. This could mean that any color dress would be fine. Again, I am only a pnm and do not know for sure, but I think the fact that the whole system is more relaxed should be a hint to how rush is going to work.

Good luck

Hi I am rushing this semester at University of Miami. I am a sophomore. I am not sure what to wear for preference night. The rush guide says semi formal/ cocktail dress but I am not sure what that means and would really appreciate some help. Also is this dress to formal:
Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend wearing that dress to Preference. It's far too revealing. Remember you are dressing to impress other women, not men. "Sexy" is not the look you're going for.

There are some photos of appropriate dresses in this thread. Look a few pages back.

Like I said in your other threads, it's too bare, too short and too low cut. Dress to impress other women, not to attract guys.

Everyone can see all the threads on GC, so there's no need to post twice. Trust us, no one wants to be staring at your cleavage while trying to talk seriously about sisterhood with you.

The red dress is very flashy. Preference is not a flashy occasion. Neither is it a funeral or wedding. Where are the GC young'uns who've posted some darling dresses? Or ...

ellebud!
