Is Miami a public school or private? If public, it's interesting to me that they do deferred recruitment as I've only seen it at private schools.
ADqtPiMel, maybe you can provide some insight to me?

It is a state school. They used to do fall recruitment - not sure when it changed over.

It's more common in the Northeast to defer recruitment for public schools. Examples of public schools with deferred recruitment include Maryland, Delaware, UVA, VA Tech, a bunch of smaller state schools in PA, some SUNY schools.

I also remember hearing that a lot of the schools that do deferred allow upperclasswomen to go through "informal" during the fall--that's how we did it, at least...

At Maryland you have to have 12 credits to join a GLO. Freshmen with 12 or more AP credits are allowed to pledge, but the vast majority of fall semester new members are sophomores. Juniors do pledge but they are few in the fall, just like freshmen.

Yes that rule drives me crazy because Alpha Phi and some other groups (AXO, ADPI, ZTA, DDD, AOPI come to mind) have very large suites that could definitely hold more sisters. Although I do understand they need to make it more even for everyone, ie its not far if sorority XYZ can only have 60 but A Phi can have 80. However on slid side our suite is larger so it can look empty and cause are party not to look as good.
Can't wait to hear bid day results on Monday!

these rush threads are fun! considering NPHC does intake differently and all. only thing is, NPC has 26 orgs, and reading these, i have the slightest idea as to which way the rushee is going to go. and since i dont know anyone personally in any of these orgs... cant even go on "the XYZ i know" or "my ABC friend."
my school only had 7 sororities and that drove me crazy enough my freshman year.
i wanna hear who she ends up with!
